⚽ Burnley – Wolves

Burnley will host Wolverhampton in one of the two Premier League matches to be played this Monday.

Burnley has been playing pretty well lately and they can get out of the relegation zone with a draw tonight, even having two games in hand. The hosts are undefeated in three matches (two draws, one win) despite having a difficult schedule, playing against good sides like Arsenal, Everton and Aston Villa. They are the same disciplined, feisty and organized team we came to know since they gained promotion to the Premier League a few years ago.

Wolverhampton is coming after a 2-1 win against Chelsea in the last round after previously losing two games in a row. Wolves are sitting on a comfortable 10th place, but they will want to improve their attacking displays. Just 13 goals in 13 matches is definitely a poor output for a team residing in the top half of the table.

Team news & lineups:

Gudmundsson and Cork are questionable for Burnley. As for the visitors, they will miss Jimenez and Jonny, with Dendoncker being doubtful.

Burnley: Pope – Lowton, Tarkowski, Mee, Taylor – Brady, Brownhill, Westwood, McNeil – Barnes, Wood

Wolves: Patricio – Boly, Coady, Saiss – Semedo, Moutinho, Neves, Podence, Marcal – Neto, Traore

Wolves are the superior side here, but their difficulties to score could come to bite them against a hard working disciplined side like Burnley, which is hard to break down even by the more creative teams in the league.

I reckon it is pretty hard to separate these two sides ahead of this clash, and I suspect both of them would be pretty happy with a point. The draw seems like a good low risk, high reward investment here.

It is worth noting that out of 12 combined games Burnley and Wolves played in November-December, 10 of them were draws or decided by a single goal. The only exceptions were games against giants Liverpool and Manchester City, those were the only two matches decided by more than a goal. The conclusion is pretty simple, both sides are being involved in a lot of close games right now.

Both H2H meetings last year between the two teams ended 1-1.

I suspect another tight affair could be on the cards, and with a little bit of luck we can make quite a nice profit without too much of a financial risk. Backing the draw makes plenty of sense, so that will be my tip here, with low – medium stakes. Prediction: Burnley – Wolves 1-1.
