High profile clash in the English Championship, but despite the big names meeting, none of the two teams are on track to reach the playoffs at this point. Each side really needs the three points here.
Cardiff (12th place) is going through a really tough patch right now, failing to win in the last 5 Championship matches and showing some horrible defending. They did win their last game 3-1 against lowly Colchester in the FA Cup, but having watched the encounter I can say Cardiff was far from impressive. They were horrible until scoring a lucky goal late in the first half (could have gone behind earlier) and after that of course the game got easier against poor opposition. Cardiff allowed no less than 13 goals in the last 5 matches they played. They signed Scott Malone from Milwall in an attempt to improve the defense and he could make his debut today.
Fulham had a nightmare start to the season but recovered to climb up to the 17th place. However, the visitors lost rhythm again lately, having 2 losses and 1 draw in the last 3 matches – the most worrying fact being the zero goals they scored in these three games. Coach Symons called for better focus offensively today, because this team can clearly score in bunches (Fulham netted 35 goals in 24 goals, also boosting the worst defense in the Championship and the worst defense when playing away from home).

Cardiff: Marshall – Brayford, Turner, Morrison, Malone – Adeyemi, Gunnarsson, Whittingham, Noone – Jones, Le Fondre
Fulham: Bettinelli – Grimmer, Hutchinson, Bodurov, Stafylidis – Ruiz, Parker, Williams, Christensen – Rodallega, McCormack
Let`s see some statistics: In Cardiff’s matches we have an average of 2,79 goals being scored per game, while in Fulham’s matches we have an average of 3,25 goals scored per game.
I really fancy the over 2,5 goals bet here, not just because of plain statistics of course (though they are pretty telling here). Cardiff is absolutely terrible at the back and they need to go for the win today, so they will leave spaces. Fulham is also an attacking-oriented team, one of the most offensive in the Championship and I would be shocked if they fail to score for a 4th consecutive game – especially against Cardiff. Look for the visitors to regain their sharpness up front – their recent struggles are providing us with excellent odds today on the under / over market.
My tip is over 2,5 goals to be scored. We have two attacking minded teams, both are searching for the win, odds are good, so I am happy to invest high stakes on this bet. Prediction: Cardiff City – Fulham 2-2.
