Ceahlaul – Pandurii

Ceahlaul Pandurii betting previewStruggling Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt takes on in-form Pandurii Targu Jiu in the Romanian Liga 1 Round 20 opener.

Ceahlaul is in a really bad spot right now, they are the worst team in Romania as far as I`m concerned, despite sitting third to last (16th place) in the standings. They are in a state of insolvency, they changed ownership, changed the coaching staff (hired ex-Inter player Ze Maria) and lost their best players in the Winter Break. The level of play showed by Ceahlaul so far in 2015 was horrible, a 0-0 home draw against a 10 maned CFR Cluj, a team that was in deep crisis and a 3-0 loss against ASA Targu Mures.

Pandurii made some interesting moves in the Winter Break and they are looking really good so far in 2015 under new coach Edi Iordanescu. The visitors defeated a good Dinamo team 2-1, clearly dominating the match, lost unlucky 0-1 to another good side (Craiova) and most recently destroyed CFR Cluj 4-0 on the road. Right now Pandurii looks like a top 6 team in Romania instead of the 9th place they are currently on.

Team news & lineups:

Stana and Buden are unavailable for Ceahlaul, while Marc has just left the club to join Dinamo Bucharest. Pandurii will have to do without Erico, Paraskevas (long term injuries) and Shalaj (suspended).

Ceahlăul: Calancea – Marković, Ichim, Cazan, Slavickas – Gheorghiu, Tăbăcariu, Wellyson – Sialmas, Cârjan, Ştefănescu

Pandurii: Gliwa – Unguruşan, Cordoş, Vasiljević, Momčilović – Anton, Pintilii – Buleică, Nistor, Nicoară – Roman

Ceahlaul has the worst defensive record in Romania, while Pandurii is a team built for offense, with a lot of technically gifted and quality players up front. Pandurii looks certain to score a couple today, while Ceahlaul wasn`t able to score a single goal in 2015 under Ze Maria. The matchup and the difference in quality and form make Pandurii an excellent bet today as far as I`m concerned. Ceahlaul is dirt poor and they might end up losing by a big margin, after all home court advantage did not help them at all this season (1 win in 9 games).

My tip is Pandurii to win and I will go with high stakes and confidence on this bet. Prediction: Ceahlaul Piatra Neamt – Pandurii Targu Jiu 0-2.

  1. It is snowing pretty heavily in Piatra Neamt since last night so the pitch will not be perfect. It should not affect the outcome because like you said the difference in value is so high, but I thought I should mention it.

    • Yep, that is good info. It was not too bad when I wrote the pick, but it continues to snow and it will affect Pandurii, since they are a team that passes well.

Still, I fully trust Pandurii to win, as you said the quality difference is too high and they have the players to change the style if necessary.
