Celtic – Rangers

Celtic Glasgow Rangers betting prediction

Celtic will host Glasgow Rangers at Celtic Park in a highly anticipated Old Firm derby clash, set to be played on Saturday, November 30th.

After suffering their first Premiership defeat of the season in shocking fashion two weeks ago, 0-4 at Hearts, Celtic got right back on the winning horse and put in three excellent performances in a row. The hosts defeated Partick Thistle, Aberdeen and Dundee with a 7-0 combined scoreline and played some great football in those games as well. Celtic currently has an 8 point advantage over Aberdeen at the top of the league, having claimed 50 points in 21 rounds.

Celtic is 3rd in the standings at the moment, 11 points behind Celtic, which can be deemed a successful position considering this is only their second year back in the Premiership (although some big investments were made). The visitors are on the back of a 2-0 home win against Motherwell, and although they didn`t impress in that game, it was a very important result – as Rangers was on the back of two consecutive losses.

Team news & lineups:

Hayes, Roberts and Rogic will not be available for Celtic, while Rangers has much bigger problems. The visitors will be without important guys like Miller, Dorrans and Wallace, while Jack is highly doubtful and will probably miss out as well.

Celtic: Gordon – Lustig, Ajer, Boyata, Tierney – Ntcham, Brown – McGregor, Armstrong, Sinclair – Dembele (Griffiths)

Glasgow Rangers: Foderingham – Tavernier, Alves, Wilson, John – Windass, Holt, McRorie, Krankjar, Candeias – Morelos

Rangers will come into this clash missing a bunch of key players and that is not a good sign for them ahead of such a difficult game. They haven`t played particularly well in December either, while Celtic has been on fire barring that shocking 0-4 loss at Hearts two weeks ago – which was clearly more of a fluke.

This looks like the best Celtic side of the last few years and they are playing very well under Brendan Rodgers, both long term and short term – having subdued their last three opponents with ease. It`s only natural that they are priced around 1.30 – 1.35 to win this derby clash by the bookies. Some would argue even such odds are high, and I tend to agree.

There`s a pretty big gap between these two clubs at the moment and taking into account the current form of the two sides, and also the important injuries of Glasgow Rangers, this seems like it will be (another) big win for Celtic.

Celtic has won the last three H2H meetings with a 9-1 combined scoreline, including a 2-0 victory away at Ibrox Park in the only meeting this season a few months ago.

I don`t see the offense of Rangers creating too many problems to an excellent Celtic defense, while the hosts should have enough to put 2-3 goals past their visitors, using their speed and versatility against a mediocre Celtic back line – as it has been usually the case in the last few Old Firm meetings.

My tip is Celtic to win and cover a -1 asian handicap, I reckon there will be plenty of moments when they will be able to overwhelm Rangers and create big time scoring chances. This will be a fully focused Celtic side, something which doesn`t happen all the time in the Premiership, and I expect them to show their superiority. Prediction: Celtic – Glasgow Rangers 3-0.
