Chelsea – PSG

Chelsea Paris Saint Germain betting previewJavier Pastore’s 93rd minute goal in the first leg was simply huge in this tie, with PSG now holding a 3-1 comfortable advantage going in England. However, Chelsea is extremely strong at Stamford Bridge and did manage to score on the road, thus keeping their hopes a live for this reverse leg.

Chelsea had an overall solid season so far, but their poor performances on the road might just lose them both the title and the Champions League. For exemplification, Chelsea won its last 6 home games with a goal difference of 19-0 (whithout conceding a single goal) but on the other hand lost its last 3 road games and won just once the last 7 times they traveled. The hosts are on the back of a 3-0 win against Stoke City over the weekend and will look to build on their home form to turn this tie around.

Paris Saint Germain finally looks like a Champions League contender this year and proved they can take on the best teams in Europe. PSG has virtually booked the title in France, having 13 points in front of Monaco, so Champions League is their main and only focus right now. The visitors are in excellent form, winning the last 11 games and posting a 15 match unbeaten streak, but of course they are not meeting the strongest of opponents in the Ligue 1.

Team news & lineups

Mourinho won`t be able to count on Ramires, van Ginkel and Mikel, with Schurrle and Eto`o doubtful. Matic and Salah are of course ineligible to play in the Champions League for Chelsea. PSG is almost injury free, but their only absence is a massive one: Ibrahimovic. Also, van der Wiel, who has recovered after an injury, will probably only be on the bench.

Chelsea: Cech – Ivanovic, Cahill, Terry, Azpilicueta – Lampard, Luiz – Hazard, Willian, Oscar – Torres

PSG: Sirigu – Jallet, Alex, Silva, Maxwell – Verratti, Motta, Matuidi – Lavezzi, Cavani, Lucas

I don`t know if Chelsea will be able to turn around this 3-1 deficit, but I`m confident Mourinho`s side will get a result. Chelsea is just fantastic at home, their 15-2-0 record at Stamford Bridge (Premier League) is simply amazing considering they are meeting the best teams in the world on a weekly basis. Even in France Chelsea was pretty good, the 3-1 scoreline being a bit harsh, so this time around, with home court advantage, I expect a totally different game. Mourinho is a class above Laurent Blanc right now and coaching might very well be a factor in this one. Not lastly, PSG would love a 1 goal defeat, so they could well choose to protect a 0-1, 1-2 result instead of pushing for the equaliser – especially towards the end of the game. My tip is Chelsea to win and with a little bit of luck they could also qualify, considering they haven`t received a goal at Stamford Bridge in the last 6 matches. In my opinion Chelsea holds all the cards here and I also love the odds, so I`ll go with high stakes on this one. Prediction: Chelsea – Paris Saint Germain 2-0.
