Cavaliers – Warriors

Steph Curry NBA finals Warriors Cavaliers

Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors will meet in Game 3 of the NBA finals, in Cleveland, with the Cavs desperate to finally get on the scoreboard. Golden State is currently leading the series 2-0 after obliterating Cleveland in the first two games in Oakland.

Cleveland cruised through a weak Eastern conference this season but their weaknesses were badly exposed by Golden State in the first two games. Cavs lost by 15 and 33 points respectively, a combined record margin for the first two matches in an NBA final. Cleveland had no answer defensively for Golden State, they were a disgrace offensively and flat out quit in the second half of Game 2. Things are looking bad for Lebron & company, who now face their last shot to win these finals. Going 0-3 down would definitely mean the end.

Golden State was so dominant in these two matches, that they didn`t even need their starts Curry and Thompson stepping up. The two were non existent in Game 1, while Curry only played 24 minutes in Game 2 and Warriors still won by 33 points. Golden State`s bench and Draymond Green at power forward have been too much for Cleveland to handle and the Warriors will come into this Game 3 looking to get a decisive grip on this series.

Cavs initially open as a 1,5 point spread favorites, but odds shifted and the two teams are now priced at evens. It`s not a surprise, considering how dominant Golden State has been so far in these series. Not only that, but Golden State is also coming back after erasing a 1-3 deficit against OKC in the Western Conference finals, a matchup that seems to have prepared them for these finals against an inferior and slightly overrated Cavs team.

I`m going with the Warriors here, but this pick is not just about the fact that Golden State won the first two games by large margins. As we know, the tide can turn quickly in sports and home court advantage will help Cavs a lot. The point is HOW Golden State won those matches. More specifically, they seem to be a nightmare matchup for the Cavs. Cleveland’s plans A, B and C of basketball are simply not working against this side and rookie coach Tyronn Lue is not one from which you can expect a clever response – especially against a savvy coach like Steve Kerr. And there are so many things that need fixing, it seems impossible to get them all right in just a couple of days.

Cleveland is unable to find any solutions and in all this time, Steph Curry and Klay Thompson are not playing great for the Warriors. If they have big nights tonight, which is very possible, Golden State is a huge favorite to win – and, as proved, they can win even if those big nights won`t come. I do expect them to come though, Curry knows that stars need to step up on the road and he knows this is his moment. So far, he always performed in these situations.

The Warriors will come into this game smelling blood, while the Cavs are unsure of themselves and have no confidence they can turn this series around. I can see the Warriors capitalizing on their matchup advantage and virtually end the finals today. I initially predicted Golden State to win this series 4-2, but now I would not be surprised if they sweep Cleveland in these finals.

My tip is Golden State to win straight up and I think the only way they won`t win is if they have an off shooting night, but Lebron would also need to step up big for Cleveland. I am aware of a possible little push that the referees might give Cleveland, as nobody wants this series to end in 4 or 5 games – but my bet stands and I will actually invest maximum stakes on the pick. Prediction: Cleveland Cavaliers – Golden State Warriors 98 – 105.

  1. I was thinking a lot about this game. It’s a win or die match for the Cavs. Now or never. That’s why I’m afraid. But Warriors are so strong. It’s 50 / 50 in my opinion. However, my bet is on GSW.

  2. Will be a great game, I’m on over.

  3. This is gonna be an easy win even though Love being out might actually help Cavs’ defense.

  4. You are a joke. What a big win for cavs
