Aalborg had a couple of good games this season, especially at home, but generally they were largely disappointing. Only 5th in Denmark and taking some really heavy beatings in Europe … they qualified with luck and only due to their performances at home (they lost all away games: 0-2, 0-2, 0-6). Aalborg got a somewhat surprising and huge win in the weekend, 1-0 vs. Brondby, but they looked the same as they have been all season … vastly outplayed in all categories and very lucky with a last second winning goal.
The Danes can be a feisty team at home but they missed their chance in the 1st leg and there is no way this rather poor team can turn the tides around … not with their horrendous football played away from home earlier in the competition. It all comes down on Brugge’s motivation and I think the hosts will pull off another confident victory. Brugge is relishing the opportunity to do well in Europe since a long time and they do not want to miss their chances by taking risks with resting players or playing relaxed. I expect Brugge’s brilliant offense to create havoc into Aalborg’s poor offense and in my opinion we will se an even bigger win than in the first leg.
