CSMS Iasi and Condordia Chiajna are currently on the last two places in the Romanian Liga 1 after 8 rounds so this should make for a very tense encounter, especially with the managers of these two sides being at absolute war with eachother.
Iasi got promoted last season and has brought in a couple of players with Liga 1 experience, but their roster is overall poor and with many guys who are past their best, so their results are not really surprising. With just 4 points in 8 rounds and without winning a single match, Iasi is on the last place and can not afford to lose this one against relegation rivals Chiajna. The hosts changed the manager a couple of rounds ago, bringing in Ionut Chirila, a guy who is in a media battle with Chiajna`s coach for almost a year now. The managerial change did not improve Iasi`s fortunes and the hosts are on the back of a 1-0 loss at Dinamo last round where they played decent football but nothing spectacular. They have the worst offense in the league, scoring 1 goal every two games in average.
I was not expecting Chiajna to be so poor this season, but the visitors are on the second to last place, just 1 point above Iasi, and manager will be under huge pressure today. Concordia`s defense has been absolutely rubbish this year and especially lately, with the visitors conceding 11 goals in the last 3 matches (including a cup game). Last time out in the league they got a 3-3 home draw against another relegation threatened team, Botosani.

This has under 2,5 goals written all over it and because of Chiajna`s defensive problems we also get an exaggerated price on this bet, it should be 1.55 at best. Concordia might have leaked a lot of goals this season, but Iasi is the worst offensive team in the league and considering the huge tension surrounding this match we can surely expect an ultra defensive approach from both sides. Iasi will play their usual sterile possession game while Chiajna, after allowing 11 goals in 3 matches will surely do their best to be more focused and composed at the back. Nobody affords to lose this game and with the total war between the two coaches we are sure to see an even more cautious approach – a defeat would surely be a disaster on multiple levels for Chirila and Sumudica, with Sumudica probably losing his job as well. On a sidenote, it`s needless to say that neither side has the quality to do damage up front. If somebody goes up 1-0, that team will surely park the bus in desperation to mantain that result.
My tip is under 2,5 goals – the odds are better for backing the “Both teams to score – No” bet, but I`m a little bit afraid of a 1-1 draw so the under seems the safer option. Prediction: CSMS Iasi – Concordia Chiajna 0-0.
