CSU Craiova will take on Concordia Chiajna at “Extensiv” stadium – which is not Craiova’s traditional home, as they are rebuilding their arena, but still a friendly stadium in the city.
The hosts were (and still are) expected to finish Top 6 and make the playoffs, they are a decent side in Romania, one of the few teams with financial stability – as they are financed from public money. Even so, CSU started the season poorly in terms of results, gaining just 2 points in the first two rounds. It has to be said though that Craiova had both a very difficult schedule and its fair share of bad luck. They deserved at least 2 more points from these first 4 rounds. They were the slightly better team against Botosani in a poor match (0-0), they clearly should have got a draw at Dinamo (0-1) and they were defeated in the 93rd minute by Astra – again a match in which they were slightly better.
Chiajna is tied in points with Craiova, just 2 draws in the first 4 matches. The difference is that Chiajna didn`t deserve to get more and was always going to struggle to avoid relegation. The visitors are a traditional relegation candidate in Romania, but they also sprang a few surprises in the last few years. This season they made some interesting signings, but mostly washed up Liga 1 veterans – they look worse than in the last years and it`s doubtful that they will be able to stay up if they don`t fix matches.

Kay, Achim and Curelea are out for CSU Craiova, all of them first team regulars or at least important substitutes. Buleica and probably Cristea will not be available for Chiajna.

Craiova’s players and coaching staff were adamant in their desire to win this match and that is important, because Craiova is a side that sometimes gets satisfied with 0-0 draws. The hosts didn`t play as bad as results suggest and they meet an approachable opponent at home – where they are always strong. If CSU plays like they did so far, they will have too much for this Concordia Chiajna side.
My tip is CSU Craiova to win. The odds are my only problem with this bet, I would have liked something like 1.90 here, because Craiova is a defensive side and the draw is always a danger. But they really need the win here and in all honesty 1.75 is fair, surely worth a decent investment as far as I`m concerned. Prediction: CSU Craiova – Concordia Chiajna 1-0.
