Two teams in completely different form will square off in Dallas, as the Mavs host the red hot Memphis Grizzlies.
The Mavericks (0-4, 0-3 home) have been the worst team in the NBA so far in terms of record, and arguably in terms of their level of play at well. With a rather poor roster and also struggling with injuries, Dallas lost 3 times at home and are on the back of a 30 point loss against a Warriors team that didn`t even try too much. Even when facing lesser opposition they couldn`t do the job done, losing to the dreadful Kings and to an average Hawks side.
Memphis (3-0, 1-0 away) had a magnificent start to the season, claiming convincing wins against three very good teams like the Pelicans, the Warriors (!!) and the Rockets. Memphis was always going to be a playoff team this season (again), but even so they are playing better than expected, finding a new level of offensive aggressiveness to complement their already rock solid defense.

Memphis is in red hot form and they are such a fundamentally sound team, built on brilliant defense and excellent chemistry. This is the last team you would expect to get beat by a club like Dallas, which seems to be playing chaotically and is trying to figure out who they are.
The Mavs have also been dreadful in regards to rebounding and rim protection so far, which is a big reason for concern when you are meeting a big, physical team like the Grizzlies.
The Grizzlies are not just a much better team in much better form, but they also match up extremely well against these Mavs, and that should be the X factor. Dallas won 5 of the last 7 against Memphis, but this is a completely different Dallas side.
Memphis is also brimming with confidence, particularly after finishing on a 20-2 run to beat the mighty Rockets by 8 points in Houston on Monday. After also beating Golden State, this team knows it can win against anybody, while the confidence of the Mavs is completely shot.
Look for the Grizzlies to play their usual game and dominate the Mavs with their physicality, defense and offensive aggressiveness. Expect a response from the Mavs as well in their desperation to avoid a 0-5 start, but in the end they just don`t match up well against Memphis, and the visitors are playing too well to lose against a team like Dallas.
My tip is Memphis to cover the 4 point (asian) handicap, I reckon the point spread is very accessible for the visitors here. Prediction: Dallas Mavericks – Memphis Grizzlies 92 – 104.
