Dinamo – Chiajna

Harlem Gnohere Dinamo goal

In form Dinamo Bucharest will square off against Concordia Chiajna in the 24th round of the Romanian Liga 1, the second round since the long Winter break ended.

Second placed Dinamo Bucharest ended 2015 in great form, posting 6 wins and 2 draws in the last 8 matches of the year. Dinamo also went undefeated in the preparation period and played a decent match in the first round of 2016, beating Botosani 1-0 last round despite missing 5 key players. The Red Dogs brought in some interesting players in the Winter and might be even better than in the first part of the season, especially as this squad was largely formed 7 months ago, so the Winter break surely helped with chemistry.

Concordia Chiajna ended the first part of the season in Romania on the second to last place with just 17 points in 23 rounds and despite the moves made in the Winter, they do not seem better. Chiajna brought in a couple of old, former stars like Christian Obodo and Artem Milevsky but looked poor last week in the first match after the Winter Break (admittedly, Milevsky did not play). Chiajna lost 0-2 at home to Steaua, playing a rather poor match and never really troubling their opponents.

Team news & lineups:

After missing 5 important players last round, 4 of them due to suspension, Dinamo now has a full squad available with the exception of new signing Eric Bicfalvi. Chiajna will miss Barboianu and Giurgiu due to suspension, both of them being regular starters. The match might also come to soon for Milevsky, but he has a chance to be involved, at least in the second half.

Dinamo Bucharest: Černiauskas – Hanca, Puljić, Mevlja, Filip – Nedelcearu, Anton – Rotariu, Palic, Lazar – Gnohéré

Concordia Chiajna: Matache – Feussi, Mamele, Tincu, Bucurică – Obodo – Cristescu, Roșu, Purece – Pena, Răducanu

Dinamo is looking pretty good right now. The squad is pretty good, the atmosphere is great following so many positive results and they are definitely the best coached team in the country. Dinamo is also the best home team in Romania posting 10 wins in 14 matches in all competitions. Chiajna on the other hand seems bound for relegation this season, did not improve in the off season and with a 1-4-7 road record in Liga 1 do not seem likely to pose a threat for Dinamo.

The odds on a home win are really good and can be definitely be played as a single bet, but I will take it a step further and tip Dinamo to win with a 1 goal asian handicap, as Chiajna is a team that leaks a lot of goals and is prone to losing big. The visitors own the worst defense and the worst goal difference in Liga 1. I wouldn`t trust Chiajna against any Top 6 side, let alone against a title challenger in good form like Dinamo, who also defeated Chiajna on the road earlier this season, 3-1. Prediction: Dinamo Bucharest – Concordia Chiajna 2-0.
