Dinamo – Chindia

Dinamo Bucharest are on the 9th place in the Romanian Liga 1 and will welcome 3rd leaguers Chindia on Stefan Cel Mare Stadium with a place in the Romanian Cup quarterfinals up for grabs.

Dinamo is traditionally a top team in Romania, but they changed ownership and went to a rebuilding process this year after having some financial problems recently. The start to the league was awful for Dinamo`s standards and the current 9th place is way below the club`s stature, but well within the expectations for this season. The hosts have a decent side, some experienced players, 2-3 top National Team players and a bunch of young guys, some of them very talented. Dinamo changed the manager a few weeks ago because of some internal conflicts and poor results, bringing in the youth team coach (Flavius Stoican), and the results look to be improving lately. Dinamo enters this game on the back of a 2-1 win against a decent Liga 1 team, Concordia Chiajna.

Chindia is currently on 2nd place in one of the Romanian 3rd league series. They are miles away from the level of Dinamo, even with the problems that the home team has. Chindia`s squad is near amateur level, a usual thing for 2rd league sides in Romania. Unlike in other countries, the difference between football levels in Romania is huge, with teams being completely out of sorts when playing an opponent from a superior division, let alone when the difference is 2 divisions. Upsets are rarely seen in the cup, and when they are seen they are in lower rounds of the cup.

Dinamo will field a pretty strong team today, they will make a couple of changes but they will not play with the reserves, and that is very important. In the previous round of the cup the Red Dogs met another 3rd league team and comfortably won 4-0, despite the fact that at that moment the team was in a worse situation than now. They fielded something close to the first 11 then and it`s expected they will field even more regulars today.

The home win shouldn`t have more than 1.05 odds, but I expect more than a win from Dinamo today and I`m pretty sure they will put some goals over Chindia. The difference between the two teams is just immense, and with Dinamo improving lately, being hungry for wins and fielding  a strong side, I can`t imagine Chindia escaping with less than 3-4 goals conceded. The hosts proved they can score this season, winning some games with scorelines like 6-0 or 4-0, they have a very nice rotation in the 3-man line behind the striker. However, I wouldn`t be surprised if the visitors manage a goal themselves, with Dinamo`s defense being impossible to trust, no matter who the opponent is.

You have to be aware that I am a Dinamo Bucharest fan. Nobody can ever question my objectivity, but it`s a piece of info you have to know before you make your own decision.
