Dnipro – Club Brugge

Dnipro Club Brugge betting previewDnipro Dnipropetrovsk hosts Club Brugge in this Europa League quarterfinal second leg, after the Ukrainians got a 0-0 result in Belgium last week.

Dnipro played a very good match in Belgium, confirming their excellent form. Today’s hosts matched Brugge in most aspects of the game … did not allow the Belgians to take control and fully deserved their draw. They even had more chances to score. Dnipro lost only one game this year … their sole defeat in 13 matches was in the reverse leg vs. Ajax, but even that ended with a qualification, so it was a sweet loss. Hosts are on the back of a 5-0 win in Ukraine midweek. Fedorchuk is suspended for this game and will not be in the lineups. Mazuch, Zozulya and Egidio are definitely out, Matheus is questionable.

Dnipro projected lineup:
Boyko – Fedetskiy, Douglas, Cheberyachko, de Matos – Luchkevich, Kankava – Konoplyanka, Shakov, Rotan – Kalinic

Club Brugge won the big derby against Anderlecht on Sunday, 2-1. Visitors are in good form, but it may be a problem that they had to work for that Anderlecht match on Sunday … while Dnipro had an easy match in Ukraine. Also, Brugge should be worried after the first leg … despite their form they did not manage to subdue Dnipro, and in Ukraine it will be much more tough to do so. But they can take confidence from their 3-1 win in Turkey vs. Besiktas last round. Bjorn Engels is the only definite absentee for Brugge … but Mbombo, Duarte and Meunier could also miss the game.

Club Brugge projected lineup:
Ryan – de Fauw, Simons, Mechele, De Bock – Vormer, Silva, Vazquez – Refaelov, Oulare, Izquierdo

Looking at the first leg, you have to feel Dnipro has the first chance today … they managed to hold off Brugge in Belgium, did not allow themselves to be dominated, had more chances. No game is similar to the other, but Dnipropetrovsk is such a tough place to come and hope to get a win. Dnipro did not allow a goal at home in 7 matches (6 wins, 1 draw). They did not lose at home since early November, to Dynamo Kiev. Dnipro will also be the fresher side after Brugge played Anderlecht on Sunday. Look forward to a close game with a tentative approach from both sides … Dnipro holding more of the ball, not allowing chances for Brugge and eventually getting the winning goal(s).

My tip will be Dnipro to qualify. Odds on a Dnipro win are sensibly better, but a 0-0 is not impossible … and if it happens, we can count on the tired legs of Brugge to hand the qualification to Dnipro. Correct score prediction: Dnipro – Club Brugge 1-0.
