Everton – Arsenal

Everton Arsenal betting previewArsenal suffered one of the biggest Premier League humiliations last season at Goodison Park, losing 3-0, and Wenger`s side will be eager to bounce back. However, Arsenal has a huge game next week against Besiktas, so good squad management is required. Arsenal to win is the bet slightly favored by the odds, but surely it will be a tough game for the Gunners.

Everton made the biggest signing in their history recently, buying Lukaku for over 30 million Euros, and they want to attack a top 4 spot this year. However, they had a horrible preparation period in terms of results and failed to win in the first round at newcomers Leicester (2-2), though it has to be said Leicester will not be an easy opponent for anyone at home.

Arsenal started off with a fantastic 3-0 win in the Community Shield over Manchester City but failed to replicate the performance in the next 2 games, needing a last minute winner at home against Crystal Palace and drawing 0-0 at Besiktas in a match where they not only failed to win, but failed to dominate and did not deserve to win. The team is looking good but some time is still needed for everything to settle in after the busy transfer action in the summer.

Team news & lineups

Barkley, Kone and Oviedo will miss out for Everton, while Gibson is questionable. Arsenal will have to do without Arteta, Gnabry, Gibbs, Walcott and Ospina, with Sanogo doubtful. The good news for Arsenal however is that the German legion is back, and Mertesacker + Ozil should start for the first time this season.

Everton: Howard – Coleman, Distin, Jagielka, Baines – Barry, McCarthy – Mirallas, Naismith, Pienaar – Lukaku.

Arsenal: Szczesny – Debuchy, Mertesacker, Koscielny, Monreal – Ramsey, Flamini – Sanchez, Ozil, Cazorla – Giroud.

Wenger will field the first team here despite the massive game against Besiktas next week, but I`m not sure Arsenal has what it takes to win at Goodison Park. Everton has been a very tough opponent for the Gunners lately and at home they can surely hold their own. I don`t see anyone having the edge here so the draw is the most likely result, in the end it should also satisfy both parties. My tip is the draw at surprisingly good odds. Prediction: Everton – Arsenal 1-1.
