Dinamo is sure to finish 4th this season after winning 4-1 last round against poor Sageata (the 1st win in 4 games), but unfortunately they will not be able to compete in the Europa League because of financial problems. This news rocked the club about 10 days ago and many players are already looking to leave, the situation is pretty bad. On top of this, Dinamo will field a lineup missing at least 7 key players who did not make the trip to Botosani, and most likely some other 2-3 starters will be left on the bench to make room for younger players – as manager Stoican suggested.
Dinamo’s lineup could look something like this: Samoila – Rus, Nedelcearu, Popa, Fai – Serban, Barboianu – Rotariu, Buia, Velici – Bilinski. The possible setup includes 4-5 guys who barely played this season and it is well known in Romania that Dinamo does not have adequate depth in the squad, so this will be a problem. The Red Dogs had big problems in the league everytime 2 or 3 important players were missing.
Botosani would like to keep the 8th place because of more TV revenue and they would also relish a historic win over Dinamo, so clearly they are the more motivated side here. Dinamo might be the better team but with their financial problems and insecurity for next season it will be hard for them to cope on such a tough field. Most importantly, Dinamo does not have the required depth to be competitive in Liga 1 without so many starters, so a Botosani win looks likely here and the odds are too good to pass. The price is dropping on this bet. My tip is Botosani to win. Prediction: FC Botosani – Dinamo Bucharest 2-0.
