Congo qualified second in a group with South Africa and Nigeria, knocking out the reigning champions from the competition … a great achievement, but Congo failed to win what should have been an accessible game vs. Equatorial Guinea in their first match here … finishing tied 1-1. Congo maybe deserved the three points, but they did not play great football. They are far from the quality of Gabon but do have a couple of good players from France and Almeria’s Bifouma. I am a big fan of this Gabon team, one of the few complete and reliable teams in this tournament in my opinion.
