Getafe – Valencia

Getafe hosts Valencia in the fourth round of the Spanish La Liga.

I talked about Getafe a couple of times this season, I will say the same thing this time: you can make an argument that Getafe has the poorest roster in La Liga. Key players from last season like Marica or Pedro Leon have left or are not playing and there were not many transfers made … Getafe struggles with finances and has no money for transfers and decent wages. So far hosts have 1 win and 2 losses, beat Almeria 1-0 at home … and they will rely on tactical discipline and on these kind of matches to save themselves from relegation … wins at home vs. inferior teams, draws at home vs. teams like Valencia and hoping for a surprise here and there.

Valencia played great football in the start of La Liga … first got 1-1 draw at Sevilla in a match they deserved to win (vs. super strong team) and than big wins vs. Malaga (3-0) and Espanyol (3-1). Valencia is looking really good on both ends of the pitch and will hope to build on the form for a 3rd consecutive win.

Getafe can be a dangerous team at home because they can play organized and disciplined on defense … but Valencia is in excellent form and they are playing great on offense … which means they have what it takes to break down the hosts. My tip will be Valencia to win at odds over evens, pretty good in my opinion. I can see Getafe snatching some points at home vs. good teams but only when those teams are not in form. Looking at Valencia’s brand of football, you just find it hard to believe they can lose points in Madrid today. Correct score prediction: Getafe – Valencia 0-2.
