🏀 Golden State Warriors – Memphis Grizzlies ✅

The Golden State Warriors host the Memphis Grizzlies in the last gameday of the regular season, and there’s everything to play for in this one. The winner will get the 8th seed, while the loser will finish 9th and have a tougher task getting to the playoffs via the play-in tournament.

It has been an up and down season for the Warriors (38-33, 24-11) without Klay Thompson, but Steph Curry carried the team on his shoulders and the Dubs hit their best form at the best time. Golden State now won 7 of the last 8 games, and six in a row. They are ending the season on a 6 game home stand, and have so far won all 5 they played.

The Grizzlies (38-33, 20-15 away) are playing very well themselves: winners of 5 straight, they will now hope to do better than last year, when in a similar situation they could not get past the Portland Trailblazers.

Injury report: The Warriors have rested their best players in the last outing, and don’t have any new injuries compared to the usual: Klay, Oubre, Wiseman and Lee. The Grizzlies (who also rested some players in their last game) will miss Allen and McDermott.

I’ve had my eyes on this clash for a while now, as it was likely that it was going to come. I really like the Warriors to come out on top.

The Dubs are playing really well lately, they have clicked at the right time, and they have an excellent record at home (24-11). They’ve been really tough to play against at Chase Center.

But maybe the biggest argument for me would be experience. This Warriors side still has Championship DNA, and it will be so useful in a situation like this. Memphis on the other hand is a young squad, and last season that was obvious when they lost an advantage to the Trailbazers late and were defeated in the play in game. That experience last year will have helped – but I reckon you still need more if you’re facing a team as the Warriors, which has a championship culture.

I’m liking what I’m seeing from Golden State, and with Curry red hot, I would be extremely surprised if they lose this at home. They have the best player on the court by a country mile and in situations like these, that is always huge (especially as Memphis doesn’t really have a particular person to stop him, and Allen being out will hurt them, as he could have offered some good minutes of defense on Steph). Prediction: Golden State Warriors – Memphis Grizzlies 117 – 110.
