Halifax Town – Hyde FC

Halifax Town Hyde United FC betting previewInteresting match-up betting wise here between Halifax and Hyde in the English Conference National. The hosts are currently on the 12th place, while Hyde is dead last on the 24th spot.

Halifax Town is having a good season so far, but the home team is in a bad run of form with 2 defeats in the last two rounds, both on the road. They lost 3-0 at Alfreton Town in the last Conference National outing, a result followed by a more understandable 4-1 defeat to strong MK Dons in the FA Cup three days ago. Halifax actually played very well against MK Dons and the scoreline was far too harsh. The hosts have shown some great offensive football this season but they need to step up their defensive efforts if they want to have the slightest chance of making the playoffs. A (very) strong point for Halifax has been their home performance. Halifax Town is undefeated on their home turf so far, winning 7 and drawing 2.

Hyde United FC has been a disaster this season. After 18 rounds, the visitors are at the bottom of the table with only 3 points (!!!) and are yet to win a game. They have a goal difference of 17-46 and on the road they gained a single point, losing the other 7 matches. Hyde did get a point at home against 10th placed Nuneaton Town two rounds ago, but it was the only time they have avoided defeat in the last 15 games played in all competitions. Woeful stats and form for the visitors. Needles to say, Hyde is virtually relegated and has little to fight for except for honor in the remainder of the season.

Team news:

Halifax Town does not have too many injury worries. Defender Ryan Toulson is the only new absentee (highly doubtful), but Adam Smith is back and Archie Love is set to make his debut. Hyde just lost resigning assistant manager McCann, but otherwise they do not have any new squad problems.

The last time these two sides met on Halifax`s turf (in 2011), the hosts won 3-2, and there were much better times for Hyde back then. The last direct meeting ended 1-1 (in 2012). You can`t realistically expect struggling Hyde to get something out of this matchup with the stats they posted this year. The visitors are in dirt poor form at the moment, they are low on confidence and they will meet one one of the best home teams in the league. Halifax has been sensational on their home stadium and will look to bounce back after the abysmal performance against Alfreton in the last round. The fact that Halifax plays attacking football and can score goals makes me believe that a 1 goal handicap is well within their reach.

I`ll go with the home side at -1 Asian Handicap and I expect a solid win for them. Eight units seems like a reasonable bet for this encounter. Halifax Town – Hyde United FC 3-1.

  1. I analyzed the game without reading your preview and I see we came up with the same scoreline, hope we both get out of the bad streak this month 🙂

  2. Congrats, it wasn’t looking good for a while there but it happened in the end. Hope we keep this up!
