Rockets – Warriors

Rockets Warriors Game 4 handicapping

The Houston Rockets will host the Golden State Warriors on Monday night in Game 4 of the Western Conference semifinals.

The Rockets (4th seed) managed to steal Game 3 at home over the weekend, after losing the first two in Oakland, so they are now down 2-1 – and face another must win game tonight. It will definitely be a difficult task considering that the Rockets barely won on Saturday despite the fact that the Warriors really did not play very well.

The Warriors (top seed) got 46 points on Saturday from Kevin Durant, but not much else from their other guys – especially from Steph Curry and the bench. This has been a trend lately for the Warriors in these playoffs, and it`s something they will be hoping to change. KD ballin out is obviously a good thing, but the Warriors need the other guys to step up. Playing KD ISO has never been the best option for the Dubs, no matter how much Durant is delivering.

Team news: Danuel House is questionable for the Rockets, while the Warriors continue to miss Demarcus Cousins and Damian Jones.

Steph Curry has been surprisingly quiet in the last few matches in these playoffs, and especially on Saturday he was disastrous – shooting 7 for 23 from the field. The second half in particular was probably the worst half of basketball he ever played – not only did he miss everything, but he almost looked drunk or drugged on the court – picking up silly fouls, missing defensive assignments and missing some shocking shots, including an open dunk in crunch time.

While Curry is playing after dislocating his finger in Game 2, that should not be a problem, as it`s his non shooting hand and not such a bad injury.

Game 3 might well be a wake up moment for Steph. While he has been OK with letting Durant dominate when the Rockets were winning, now his performance cost his team a game. Surely you would expect Curry to bounce back after such a disastrous outing and shut the critics up – and he is facing a lot of criticism right now.

The 24,5 point line is the lowest Curry had in a long, long time. Even though he`s averaging 22.6 points in this postseason, shooting 44% from the field and 40% from three (and even worse in this particular series), we are still talking about a guy who averaged 27.3 points this season.

Curry should have a bounce back game here, that`s what you would expect from a player of his caliber after a horrible showing in the previous game. Look for Steph to wake up and score 30+ tonight. Hopefully tonight he will not get into foul trouble, which has been a big problem for him in these playoffs, and one of the reasons for his decreased scoring average.

My tip will be Curry over 24,5 points. If you want a bit more safety, Unibet has the points total line for Curry at 23,5 (odds 1.68). Prediction: Houston Rockets – Golden State Warriors 105 – 110.
