Istanbul Basaksehir and Club Brugge will square off in the second leg of this Champions League qualifier, after Istanbul BB claimed a deserved 3-3 draw last week in Belgium.
Basaksehir finished second last year in Turkey ahead of giants like Galatasaray of Fenerbahce, and the hosts performed an aggressive transfer campaign over the summer – bringing in names like Gael Clichy, Aurelian Chedjou, Elero Elia or Gokhan Inler, with the only big loss being their star teenager under (sold to Roma for 13.5 million Eur). The Turkish side claimed a great result in Belgium but will almost be a little disappointed, as they could have won that game.
Brugge was shell shocked last week, as they took an early 2-0 lead, but were outplayed for the rest of the game by Basaksehir, fell down 2-3 and barely got a late equalizer. The Belgian side will have a difficult task in Turkey, but will hope that extra match practice over the weekend will be an advantage (Basaksehir still has just one game under its belt) – as Club Brugge won 4-0 against Lokeren in the first round of the Belgian league, despite resting some key players.

Chedjou is doubtful for Basaksehir, while Club Brugge won`t be able to count on Wesley, Rotariu and Pina.
Istanbul BB: Babacan – Caicara, Attamah, Epureanu, Clichy – Takdemir, Belozoglu – Visca, Mossoro, Elia – Adebayor
Club Brugge: Horvath – Mechele, Engels, Denswil – Palacios, Vormer, Nakamba, De Bock – Rafaelov, Perbet, Bonaventure
The first leg was an extremely entertaining clash and it wasn`t a big surprise, as both teams are offensive oriented and have star attacking talent in their ranks. What`s more, they are built for offense from the defensive line up, with attacking minded wing backs and defensive midfielders.
Chances are the second leg could be a similar display of attacking football as the first one, especially as Brugge needs to win – while Basaksehir is not the team to defend a 0-0 draw, especially against an offensively potent adversary.
The first leg result clearly influenced odds for a bet on goals here, and some value is lost, but I still feel the price is good enough – and it`s dropping at the moment.
Look for a good game of football with nobody parking the bus, and the first goal should definitely open things up – particularly if it will be Basaksehir to score it.
My tip is both teams to score, as odds are virtually the same as for the over 2,5 goals bet – and 1-1 definitely looks more plausible than 3-0 either way.
I feel odds on this bet should be in the 1.50 – 1.55 region looking at the DNA of the two teams and at the first leg result – not to mention about the way the first leg was played. I am confident enough to invest high stakes of 9 units on this prediction, although not quite confident enough to go with maximum stakes. Prediction: Istanbul Basaksehir – Club Brugge 1-1.
