UPDATE: Pick was initially posted on Thursday, but the match was interrupted with Janowicz leading 7-5 4-4 and will be resumed on Friday.
High profile encounter in the Wimbledon 2nd round, as the last year semifinalist Jerzy Janowicz takes on former champion Lleyton Hewitt in a clash of styles and generations.
Janowicz had a horrible year by his standards. The big hitting Pole can not find his rhythm and, since he`s a player that usually goes for broke, that means a high number of unforced errors. His only game on grass prior to Wimbledon ended with a pathetic loss against Pierre Hugues Herbert and he did not far much better in the first round at Wimby either, needing 5 sets to surpass a not so dangerous Somdev Devvarman. Janowicz needs to recover some form quickly, as he has a semifinal to defend from last year and he meets a very dangerous opponent.

Lleyton Hewitt proved he can still get the job done at the start of the season, winning the Brisbane title over Federer, but since then he was not able to replicate the same level of form. Lleyton is one of the best grass court players remaining in the ATP tour and has a 2-1 win loss on the surface this season, being defeated in 2 sets by in-form Feliciano Lopez in Queens. Here at Wimbledon he needed 4 sets to get past Przysiezny, but he should have done in in three, the match was very one sided.
This will be the first meeting between the two. It will be interesting to see Jerzy’s all out attack brand of tennis against Hewitt`s consistent baseline play and good defending.
Listen, Janowicz is a great talent, but at the end of the day you can count the good tournaments he had on the fingers of one hand. Jerzy is very dangerous when he’s in the zone, but right now he`s far from playing his best tennis. Hewitt is not in his best shape either but is playing a little bit better, has more experience and I think he will hurt Janowicz with his defensive gameplan. Hewitt will keep the ball in play, force the Pole to hit another shot, and eventually the unforced errors will come. My tip is Hewitt to win with a 1,5 set handicap. Odds going down big time on the Australian. Prediction: Jerzy Janowicz – Lleyton Hewitt 4-6 6-3 3-6 4-6.
