Juventus Buc – Dinamo

Juventus Dinamo betting preview

Juventus Bucharest will square off against Dinamo Bucharest in the first round of the new Romania Liga 1 season. The match will be played on neutral ground, 60 km away from Bucharest (in Ploiesti), as the hosts don`t have an arena at Liga 1 standards.

Juventus are newcomers in the top league and have never played at this level before, but they fully deserved their promotion after dominating the Liga 2 with authority last season. Juventus Bucharest brought in 4-5 new players with Liga 1 experience in the summer, but on the other hand they lost their best player and top scorer Chirpiliu (scorer of 30 goals last season), so that will be a huge loss.

Dinamo Bucharest finished 3rd last season in the Liga 1 and was arguably the best side in the playoffs, ending their campaign on a high and winning the League Cup as well. Despite losing a couple of key players in the off season (Palic, Dielna), Dinamo kept the same nucleus of the team, the same manager and made 3-4 excellent signings like Albin (Veracruz), Anton (Getafe) or Salomao (Mallorca), so at first sight they should be stronger than last year.

Team news & lineups:

Juventus Bucharest doesn`t have any injuries or suspensions. New signings Anton and Albin will not be available for Dinamo in this clash, but otherwise the Red Dogs can field their best lineup.

Juventus Bucharest: Mingote – Beta, Morariu, Benga, Stefan – Mihaescu, Musca – Calintaru, Bajenaru, Petre – Mazarache

Dinamo Bucharest: Penedo – Romera, Nedelcearu, Katsikas, Filip – Mahlangu, Busuladzic – Hanca, Bawab, Salomao – Nemec

Juventus Bucuresti was excellent last season in the second league, but the difference in class between the first two levels of Romanian football is massive, as Liga 2 can barely be called professional. This gap in quality can be seen each year in the promotion / relegation playoffs, where second league teams get obliterated by some of the worst sides in Liga 1.

The hosts have a rather poor roster at their disposal, they lost their best player (who scored 40% of their goals last year) in the Summer, and do not own a fan base or a stadium – so they are expected to fight against relegation.

Considering the fact that this match will be played on neutral ground 60 km away from Bucharest (with Dinamo having all the support of the fans), odds around 1.70 for a Dinamo win seem way too high in my book. I would price them at 1.50 -1.55 here.

The Red Dogs are the better team, they are better coached and should feel more at home than Juventus with 3000 fans traveling to the game + a few thousand from the region, as opposed to zero Juventus fans. Considering the way Dinamo ended last season and the good atmosphere at the club, I do not see any reason for an upset – even though Dinamo would have been stronger with new signings Albin and Anton available.

My tip here is Dinamo Bucharest to win, and the bet makes enough sense for me to attack it with high stakes. Prediction: Juventus Bucharest – Dinamo Bucharest 0-2.
