Anderson – Federer

Kevin Anderson Roger Federer betting previewKevin Anderson and Roger Federer will square off in the Indian Wells quarterfinals and this should be a very entertaining game to watch, with some great betting options as well.

Anderson is currently in the form of his life, playing some amazing tennis. The South African giant obviously has some of the best serves on tour, but his movement and groundstrokes at the moment are top class. Kevin might still not move like Rafa Nadal, but he`s covering the court amazing for his hight and his shots are deep, flat, powerful and most of all consistent, thus putting a lot of pressure on opponents when returning, considering that his serve is rarely touchable. Also, Anderson is coming to the net much more often and with great success lately.

Kevin is on the back of two lost finals at Delray Beach and Acapulco, conceding the titles to Cilic (6-7 7-6 4-6) and then Dimitrov (6-7 6-3 6-7). I watched the southafrican in the Dimitrov game and he was so good, dominating the bulgarian for the whole match with excellent shotmaking and consistency, but he fumbled under pressure at the end of the first set and especially in the decider, when he was a break up and then a minibreak up in the tiebreak. Here at Indian Wells, Kevin defeated Hewitt, Donskoy and Wawrinka, with a brilliant performance agains the in-form swiss in the Round 16 (7-6 4-6 6-1). Stan did have some fitness problems but he wasn`t far from his best at all, and Anderson produced some great tennis to get a solid win.

Federer is playing some great tennis as well right now, and he’s actually not far away from his best level. Roger defeated Djokovic and Berdych for the Dubai title and cruised to reach the IW quarters without losing a set. He made light work of Haas in the last round with a solid 6-4 6-4 win. Roger is not far from his best at the moment, he`s healthy, he`s serving excellent (which is a huge aspect of his game), he is not making too many unforced errors and his backhand side looks very stable. Not lastly, Federer`s movement on the court seems better than ever. Roger has a huge chance to win the title here at Indian Wells with the big names out and with Djokovic (the only top player remaining) in very shaky form, so expect Roger to be very motivated, as he himself stated.

The H2H between the two is 1-0 for the swiss. Federer got a reasonably easy win late last year in Paris, 6-4 6-4, but Anderson was nowhere near his current level of form – admittedly, Federer was also playing much worse than now.

Roger is surely back on track and he is producing some brilliant tennis. I fully expect him to win this one but it seems there`s no way that it will be easy. Anderson has his colossal serve which is close to guaranteeing close sets and tiebreaks, and if we look at his current baseline game he is set to both back up his serve and make some damage on the return – Federer is serving well but had blackout moments in all of his matches lately. Also, Roger is not known to blow out opponents and he`s often satisfied to get through big servers in tiebreaks or, if he can, with one break per set. I think the line is too high at +4, as I expect this to be a nailbiter and there`s great value at these odds on Kevin. Having watched Anderson play lately, I am very confident he will be able to cover the games handicap, maybe even snatch a set. My tip is Anderson +4 handicap, maximum stakes as I trust my analysis that there`s great value on this bet. Prediction: Kevin Anderson – Roger Federer 6-7 7-6 4-6. The odds are going down and the line is moving towards 3.5, so I`d take this one as early as possible.

Pick: Anderson (+4)
