Leganes – Real Madrid

Leganes Real Madrid prediction

Real Madrid will try to maintain their cushion at the top of the table, as they go on to visit relegation battlers Leganes in the 30th round of La Liga.

Leganes is sitting on the 17th place, just 5 points above the relegation line, but the team is undefeated in the last 4 matches with 1 win and 3 draws. What`s more, Leganes got a few interesting results like drawing at Sevilla and Real Sociedad. However, it has to be said that Leganes was fortunate to meet teams in very poor form – neither of their last 4 opponents won any games in the last 3 rounds.

Real Madrid has 2 points in front of Barcelona at the top of the table, and Los Blancos also have a game in hand. Zidane’s team is looking good value to win the title, especially as they are playing well and have won 4 matches in a row in Primera – including 3-0 at home against Alaves last round.

Team news & lineups:

Leganes will be without Moran, Ibanez, Serantes and very possibly El Zhar. Real Madrid’s only absentee will be Varane.

Leganes: Herrerin – Tito, Siovas, Mantovani, Bustinza, Rivo – Pires, Alberto, Perez, Szymanowski – Guerrero

Real Madrid: Navas – Carvajal, Pepe, Ramos, Marcelo – Kroos, Casemiro, Modric – Ronaldo, Benzema, Bale

The recent run of 1 win and 3 draws for Leganes is impressive, but they only met teams which are going downhill at the moment. Real Madrid will be a completely different proposition, even at home.

Real Madrid has two very difficult games coming up, against rivals Atletico and against Bayern Munchen. Nevertheless, they are expected to field their best lineup here, which indicates they are treating this game with full focus. A win today would be huge in giving Real some room for error in the next couple of weeks, when they have tough games in both La Liga and the Champions League.

Los Blancos haven`t lost a single point this season against teams fighting for relegation (maybe excluding Malaga) and it doesn`t look like they will start doing it now. The quality gap is as large as it gets at this level, Real is playing very well and they have every reason to be very motivated to win this game. What`s more, Leganes misses a few key pieces coming into the match, while Real Madrid is at full strength with the exception of Varane.

Real Madrid defeated Leganes 3-0 at home in the previous meeting this season, back in November.

My tip is Real Madrid to cover the 1 goal asian handicap. This is obviously a rather simple choice, but an upset does not look likely and the odds look Ok to me, so I`m happy to take the bet and recommend it. Prediction: Leganes – Real Madrid 0-2.

Pick: Real Madrid (-1 Asian Handicap)
Odds: 1.56 @ Ladbrokes
Stake: 8
Possible profit: 4.48
Event date: 5 April

  1. Now without Ronaldo and Bale, does the prediction still stands?

    • And Kroos. Wow, this was some real bad news. Last night`s reports all suggested a full strength Real side and I based much of my pick on that.

I still expect Real Madrid to win the game, but of course the prediction doesn`t make the same sense now. Maybe smaller stakes.

  2. I have already placed my bet before the update. I’m grateful to real for making the prediction stand.
