Liverpool and Arsenal will both try to get an edge over one another in perspective of the title race, as the two teams meet in the third round of the British Premier League.

The Gunners have 3 points in two rounds, beating Leicester and losing at Stoke, but they didn`t play bad football – and they were definitely very unlucky to lose last round against Stoke. The problem for the visitors is that they are in a state of uncertainty, with players unwilling to extend their contracts (Ozil, Sanchez, Chamberlain), or reportedly being unsettled (Mustafi, Sanchez).

Liverpool will be without Bogdan, Sakho, Lallana and Ings, while Coutinho and Clyne are doubtful. Arsenal will only miss Cazorla, although Chambers and Wilshere are not expected to feature either, and Alexis Sanchez is still a doubt.

Both teams have been extremely vulnerable at the back in the start of this season, often to the point of looking pathetic. Liverpool allowed 6 goals in 4 matches, while Arsenal allowed 5 goals in 3 matches (if we count their 1-1 draw against Chelsea in the Community Shield).

On the other hand, Liverpool scored no less than 10 goals in 4 matches, while Arsenal scored 5 in 3 matches – and they could have easily added one or two more in their 0-1 defeat to Stoke last week, when they had a ton of solid chances.

Both sides like to play an offensive brand of football and suffer at the back, also missing a few players in that area. They are able to create danger up front, but look extremely vulnerable in defense, especially when they are faced by a running attacker.

Arsenal will get back Koscielny for this match, but Mustafi remains a liability (poor form, might leave, arguably not 100% fit), and Monreal proved himself to be poor as a center back against good opposition. This trio doesn`t look like it can stop fast paced attackers like Mane, Firmino or Salah / Coutinho – but on the other hand Liverpool’s back line doesn`t inspire more confidence either. Looking at the player for player matchups, they don`t look good for either defense.

Arsenal and Liverpool recorded over 2.5 goals in 7 of their last 8 H2H meetings. Last season, Liverpool won both meetings, 4-3 and 3-1.
