Liverpool recovered well after losing to Hull two rounds ago by defeating Norwich 5-1 at Anfield, on the back of 4 goals by Luis Suarez. The Reds will be confident of repeating the scenario (at least to some extent) against a struggling West Ham Side that is also having selection problems ahead of the game.
Liverpool has played some solid football this season and finally looks like a contender after some mid-table finishes in the last few years. The Reds are on the 3rd place, 6 points behind Arsenal and 2 points behind Chelsea, so there`s no question about their massive motivation for this West Ham game. The strong point for ‘Pool, not surprisingly, was their play at home, where they have won 6 out of 7 Premier League games. The hosts are on the back of a 5-1 win against Norwich. Luis Suarez was simply brilliant, scoring 4 goals and assisting Henderson for the 5th. The uruguayan striker will lead the attacking line again today for the Reds.
West Ham had an abysmal season so far despite some interesting summer signings, and things don`t look to be on the right track after the London side managed to lose against Crystal Palace (0-1) last round. West Ham is on 17th place right now and only the fluke 3-0 win at Tottenham a couple of months ago keeps them above the relegation places. The visitors are in bad form right now, losing 3 out of the last 4 matches they played. West Ham has not been completely hopeless on the road, posting an almost decent statline of 1 win, 3 draws and 3 losses.

Team news & lineups
Liverpool will again miss Coates, Enrique and Sturridge. Sturridge is the only short-term absentee but we saw that ‘Pool did just fine without him in the last round. West Ham on the other hand is plagued by injuries. Rat and Vaz Te will face late fitness tests, while Morrison, McCartney, Carroll, Diarra, Petric and Reid are all out.
Liverpool: Mignolet – Johnson, Skrtel, Agger, Flanagan – Allen, Gerrard, Henderson, Lucas, Coutinho – SuΓ‘rez.
West Ham: Jaaskelainen – Demel, Collins, Tomkins, O’Brien – Downing, Diame, Noble, Nolan, Jarvis – C Cole.
‘Pool comes after a big win and there`s always a chance of a letdown, but their hunger for trophies and the need for points to keep up with Arsenal and Chelsea diminishes that chance. West Ham is extremely poor at the moment and being decimated by injuries the visitors are very vulnerable in this Anfield Road visit. Liverpool has won all their last 4 home games by 2 ore more goals, they often win by big margins so I do not see to many reasons for which they shouldn`t cover the handicap again today. The hosts will keep the ball and peg at that West Ham back line, which will surely collapsea couple of times, especially with some key defenders missing. On the other hand, with one of the worst offenses in the league and without Carroll it`s unlikely that West Ham will pose too much of an offensive threat. This is important, as I feel the Reds don`t have to score more than twice in order to cover the 1 goal handicap successfully. Liverpool are in good form, the visitors are banged up and in bad form, while also being clearly inferior in the quality department. I expect Liverpool to cover the handicap here. My tip would be Liverpool – West Ham 3-0.
