Liverpool and West Ham will square off at Anfield in what will be an extremely important match for both sides in the 15th round of the Premier League.
After losing last round to Bournemouth, blowing a 3-1 lead, Liverpool is now 4 points behind Arsenal and might find themselves 7 points behind Chelsea – if the Blues win against WBA earlier in the day. Needless to say that Klopp’s men absolutely need to win this game against West Ham. Liverpool has been very consistent so far at home this season, winning 5 and drawing 1 out of 6 matches, posting an amazing 19-4 goal difference.
West Ham United is on the back of a 1-5 home loss to Arsenal, yet another catastrophic defensive performance from Bilic’s men after they also lost 1-4 to Manchester City. The Hammers have conceded at least a goal in each of the last 7 matches in all competitions and they failed to win in the last 5 outings. West Ham is in the red zone on the 18th place, so they really need to start racking up some points, but perspectives aren`t looking good as the team is playing chaotic football.

Liverpool will miss Coutinho, Sturridge, Ings, Sakho and possibly Can, while West Ham will have to do without Oxford, Byram, Collins, Sakho, Tore and Kouyate. The big question marks for West Ham is if Cresswell and Antonio will return after missing the Arsenal game. West Ham was horrific without them and at least one of them might be forced, though neither is fully fit.
Liverpool: Karius – Clyne, Lovren, Matip, Milner – Lallana, Henderson, Can (Wijnaldum) – Mane, Origi, Firmino
West Ham: Randolph – Arbeola, Reid, Ogbonna, Cresswell – Noble, Obiang – Masuaku (Antonio), Lanzani, Payet – Carroll
West Ham was absolutely horrible last week and the 1-5 scoreline was actually flattering, as Arsenal could have won that match 7-0. Some kind of improvement is expected from West Ham, especially if Cresswell and / or Antonio will be fit enough to start, but there are too many problems in this team to be resolved in just one week.
Liverpool is obviously the better side but what I like most here is the matchup, as West Ham’s defense and style of play won`t allow them to park the bus at Anfield, trying to frustrate Liverpool. The hosts will have much more spaces to exploit than they usually do at home against relegation bound opponents. If it comes down to who scores more, Liverpool will no doubt have a huge advantage.
I think it`s reasonable to expect a response from Liverpool after they blew a 3-1 leas last round against Bournemouth and playing West Ham at home will be the perfect opportunity for a much needed bounce back win. I doubt ‘Pool will jeopardize their title challenge against a team in total disarray like the Hammers.
With West Ham’s atrocious defense and Liverpool’s offensive strength, covering a 1 goal handicap shouldn`t be such a big problem for the hosts. My tip is Liverpool to win with a 1,25 asian handicap. Prediction: Liverpool – West Ham United 3-1.
Pick: Liverpool (-1,25 Asian Handicap)
