The Clippers will take on a woeful New York side at Staples Center tonight as 13 points spread favorites. It should be a nice one right before the New Year – or right after, if you`re in Eastern Europe / Asia.
Los Angeles (21-11, 11-4 home) is having a good season, but could actually do even better considering the talent they have in their roster, with many people dubbing them as potential NBA champions. The Clippers have not been particularly impressive lately, struggling to beat Utah two days ago and overall losing 3 of their last 5. They did meet solid teams, that`s true and a visit from the Knicks may help them improve on those statistics.
New York (5-28, 2-15 away) has been absolutely dreadful so far. Their statistics are horrible – you can see the win/loss stats, but also NY lost 18 out of the last 19 matches! The visitors were expected to challenge for the playoffs at the beginning of the season, but instead they are the laughingstock of the NBA, along with the Sixers. New York`s roster was clearly overrated, they are also struggling with injuries, but the worst part of it is this team has zero heart.

The Knicks could be without Carmelo Anthony today, he exited the last match (a blowout defeat to Portland) with a sore knee and even if he plays he will be limited in minutes and/or performance. Knicks also have injury problems with Bargnani, Stoudemire, Smith and Dalembert.
It will be funny to see how this Knicks side will match up against the deadly frontcourt of Griffin and Jordan, taking into account that NY will likely miss 3 big men. Also with a hurt Carmelo (or even without him), the Knicks could be in for a real beating today. Los Angeles hasn`t impressed lately but they are so, so good and clearly due a big game, I reckon they have all the arguments to play one such game today. Also, I highly doubt this heartless Knicks team with low morale will fight too much to cover the spread – not on 31 December in an away game they have almost zero chance of winning.
My tip is LA Clippers to win and cover the 13 point spread. Note that the Clippers are known for their ability to run away with games, while the Knicks are equally known for giving up and losing big often. Odds for LA to cover are going up, but I think they will stabilize quickly when people realize the injuries and problems that New York has. Prediction: Los Angeles Clippers – New York Knicks 110-88.
