Malmo takes on Atvidaberg in the 11th round of the Swedish Allsvenskan, with the match having huge importance for both sides.
Malmo started the season with a run of 8 matches without defeat, but have simply collapsed in the last two matches, losing 0-3 at home to Hacken and 1-2 at Kalmar. Having failed to win in the last 3 matches and with Goteborg playing at a very high level, Malmo dropped 7 points behind the leaders and need to step it up quickly if they want to retain the title. The hosts are by far the best team in Sweden in terms of talent, but it looks like the excellent transfers they made in the summer may need some time to learn how to play together.
Atvidaberg is arguably the weakest team in Allsvenskan, being the top favorite to go down before the season started. The visitors have not surpassed the expectations and find themselves dead last in the table with just 4 points in 10 matches. What`s worse, Atvidaberg has been in abysmal form lately, losing 4 matches on the spin – last time out 1-2 at home against Elfsborg.

Team news: Malmo doesn`t have any new missing players compared to the last round with the exception of Lewicki (suspended). Bengtsson and Cibicki are also out. It remains to be seen if the manager sticks with the losing side or makes some changes in the lineup in order to provide a positive shock. It`s a possibility we could see a bit of rotation, as there are also a couple of players that seem to be struggling with fitness. Atvidaberg healthier than Malmo, only missing Nordenberg ahead of this clash.
The difference between Malmo and Atvidabergs is colossal in terms of quality, there is a gap of at least one division between the two clubs. The hosts are too good to extend a winless run for too long in Allsvenskan and this really seems like the perfect opportunity to get back on track, against a much weaker opponent that is in total disarray. Look for Malmo to start strong and expect very high motivation from the players, especially if 2-3 new guys will come into the starting lineup. If Malmo plays a good game they can easily put 3-4 goals past Atvidaberg, but even a decent performance should be more than enough to cover a 1,5 goal handicap.
All in all my tip is Malmo to win this clash with a 1,5 goal handicap. Look for a hurt animal of Malmo’s caliber to bounce back in style, a team like the current champions doesn’t play 3 bad matches in a row and after a short letdown in the last week or so, we should see them getting back to dominating the league. It will likely start today, so I am investing high stakes on this bet. Prediction: Malmo – Atvidaberg 3-0.
