Marton Fucsovics and John Millman will square off on Wednesday morning (European time) in the second round at the ATP 250 event in Sydney.
Fucsovics has been in excellent form to start the year, even if he has just a 2-1 record to his name so far. The Hungarian played in Doha last week, destroying Copil in the first round and losing to Djokovic in the second, but not before taking a set from the World No. 1. Here in Sydney, Fucsovics defeated an in form Duckworth in three sets in the opening round. Fucsovics had a very good season last year, and is looking to build on that.
Millman also had an excellent 2018, mostly because of his quarterfinal showing at the US Open. However, Millman hasn`t played very well since then, and hasn`t shown particularly great tennis in the start of this year either. Millman played in Brisbane last week, where he struggled against Sandgren in the opening round (6-7 7-6 6-0) before being easily beaten by Dimitrov. Here in Sydney, Millman escaped from a difficult thriller in the first round against Tiafoe, a player who is completely out of form.

My fist thought here was betting on over 22.5 games (or even better, over 22.0), as these are two good players and the match looks pretty balanced on paper.
However, you have to feel that Fucsovics simply played better tennis this year, and he is also more consistent than Millman long term.
Millman had troubles in all of his matches in 2018, struggling to get past average or out of form opponents like Sandgren or Tiafoe, often looking prone to errors in rallies in the stretches in which I have seen him. He definitely had more ups and downs than Fucsovics.
Look for Fucsovics to be more consistent from the baseline here, he is the better player at the moment and he is in better form. My analysis on this one is pretty simple, but I trust it, and it`s no surprise for me that odds on Fucsovics are going down.
My tip will be Fucsovics to win. A few bookies have excellent odds of around 1.90 here, so I will take that with 8 units. Most of the bookies have prices between 1.65 and 1.75. Those are reasonable odds which are still worth taking, but maybe with 6-7 units. Prediction: Marton Fucsovics – John Millman 6-3 5-7 6-4.
