Milan – Spezia

Milan Siena betting previewWith the disastrous showing in the league so far compromising the Serie A season, the Cup can be Milan’s salvation in 2014 and the Rossoneri will go for it by treating every match with maximum focus. For sure this is not good news for Serie B side Spezia, but the visitors will hope to capitalize on Milan’s very poor form.

After the horrible 3-4 result against Sassuolo over the weekend, the hosts finally got rid of Allegri and brought in Mauro Tassotti as his replacement. It remains to be seen what kind of impact the manager change will have, but it`s hard to believe the Devild can play any worse. Currently 11th in the Serie A, Milan is totally focused on the Cup and the Champions League. Tasotti called up his best players for this game and will send on the pitch a first 11 close to the best one (no Balotelli, but the squad is good).

Milan’s squad for the Spezia match: Abbiati, Amelia, Gabriel, Bonera, De Sciglio, Mexes, Rami, Silvestre, Zaccardo, Zapata, Birsa, Cristante, Emanuelson, Honda, Kakà, Montolivo, Nocerino, Poli, Pazzini, Petagna (N. 37), Robinho.

I think Milan to win is a so called banker despite the poor form for the Rossoneri. The chances are that Mauro Tassotti’s hiring will give a boost to the squad, at least for the moment – it usually happens with manager change especially at big clubs. And Spezia for sure is very far from Serie A level.

The visiting team is on 12 place in Serie B, they should survive relegation but they are actually worse than their position suggest. A proof of that is the goal difference, -6, they are on 17 place in that regard. Spezia often loses by big scores and that was also seen last round: 1-4 versus Latina Calcio. Spezia defeated Pescara in the last round of the cup and previously Genoa at penalties – both times at home.

Considering the gap in quality, Milan’s motivation, the manager change, the home court advantage and the poor value of Spezia, my prediction is Milan to win and cover the 2 goal asian handicap. The hosts have been decent at home this year despite their overall poor performances and with the cup one of the main objectives, they are set for a morale-boosting win against a very poor opponent. Milan could see a 3-0 or 4-0 result against this kind of adversary. 8 units is my stake on Milan -2 asian handicap. Dropping odds on every betting option that involves the Rossoneri’s win.
