Netherlands – Colombia

Netherlands Colombia betting previewNetherlands and Colombia will square off in a high profile friendly at Amsterdam Arena. Surely this is one to watch, but what`s the input betting-wise?

Netherlands have been deadly in the qualifying group, losing only 2 points in Estonia when they were already qualified. Louis Van Gaal`s side is playing a brilliant brand of attacking football, not surprising if you look at the quality they have up front. The hosts posted a goal difference of 34-5 in the qualifications, but are on the back of a 2-2 draw with Japan where, aside for their goalscoring capabilities, they were also very poor at the back and showed an overall very poor performance. Arjen Robben and his teammates have promised the fans a more spirited performance against Colombia.

Colombia has a great generation of players, led of course by start striker Falcao. The visitors finished second in the South American qualifiers, just 2 points behind Argentina, scoring 27 times in 16 games while also conceding 13 goals. Colombia is on the back of an impressive 2-0 win in Belgium, though they were a little lucky as the hosts missed some huge chances over the 90 minutes. The SouthAmericans are playing some great football, they are in good form and with Falcao, Cuadrado and Rodriguez leading the offensive line they are very dangerous for opposing defenses.

Team news & lineups

Netherlands will have to do without defenders Indi and Willems for this game. Van Persie was not called up for these friendlies. Colombia has the full squad available, but keeper Ospina and other 1-2 players may sit out again, like in the game against Belgium.

Netherlands: Kruul – Wiel, Vlaar, Vrij, Blind – Guzman, Stroootman, Jong – Van der Vaart, Lens, Robben

Colombia: Mondragon – Arias, Zapata, Perea, Armero – Cuadrado, Guarin, Sanchez, Rodriguez – Falcao, Ibarbo

This game has over 2,5 goals written all over it. Both teams are playing offensive (especially Netherlands) football and a friendly is always going to be a more open game than an official one, with less tactical rigors. Netherlands has scored 2 or more goals in 9 of their last 10 matches. Van Persie will be a blow for an over bet, bun on the other hand both sides have players missing in their defensive setups. Netherlands will be eager to bounce back after the Japan draw, while Colombia is on a high after beating Belgium, so everything is set for a high scoring match. Last week both sides played entertaining games and we should see a similar one today. Like it was the case in Belgium – Colombia, it seems that only a poor conversion of goalscoring chances into goals could ruin this bet. My pick for this one is Netherlands – Colombia 2-2. The bet is very simple, but it should pay off in the end.
