Nets at Wizards

Brooklyn Nets at Washington Wizards betting previewWashington Wizards will welcome Brooklyn Nets in an attempt to record their second consecutive win after starting the NBA season with a 3 game losing streak.

Wizards were one of the worst teams in the league the last few seasons, but this year they have John Wall healthy and they made a solid move by adding center Gortat from Phoenix. The hosts have a great frontcourt on paper with Gortat and Nene and they have one of the best young point guards in the league, but their depth, especially in the backcourt, is not too impressive. Plus, their frontcourt, their main asset, did not perform so far at all, the Wizards allowing 107 points per game and posting some horrible stats! They struggled a lot in the first three games of the season, losing all of them before defeating a Philadelphia team that is probably the worst in the NBA right now in terms of talent. John Wall had a great game against Philly and it`s doubtful that he can repeat that performance, he stated himself that sometimes shots will go in, sometimes they won`t. Overall, this team is a work in progress, no doubt about that, with some inconsistent youngsters and new players that need to adapt.

The Nets suddenly became a contender for the Championship after adding the likes of Kevin Garnett and Paul Pierce alongside their “Big 3” of Williams, Johnson and Lopez. With one of the best starting lineups in the league, Brooklyn also has arguably the best bench, with Terry, Kirilenko, Blatche, Livingston or Evans. The only questionmarks about this team are their age and their cohesion. But age is not an issue so early in the season, while team chemistry of course can be improved, but it`s not bad (better than the Wizards’) and rookie coach Jason Kidd pointed out that he is very pleased with how the guys are working together. Nets so far had a great pre-season and are 2 for 4 in the league. They failed to win on the road so far, but they defeated Miami and are on the back of a dominant home win against Utah Jazz three days ago.

The Nets have had an additional day to rest compared to the Washington Wizards, which could be an important factor today. These two teams also met in the pre-season, with the Nets getting an overtime win here in Washington.

I think Brooklyn will get its first win. They are stacked with talent and should be able to do the job against an inferior team that struggles to find its rhythm. Expect the Nets` depth to make the difference against a team that is really vulnerable when the starting 5 is out of the game. Their experience should also help them contain a young and inconsistent opponent. Bottom line, Wahington does not have the arguments today to overcome the gap in quality on the floor. The current line of 2,5 points is really low and Nets should be able to cover the spread. Brooklyn Nets @ Washington Wizards 105-95.
