Arguably the most anticipated second round clash at Indian Wells will see Nick Kyrgios take on Grigor Dimitrov in a duel between two of the most promising stars of the ATP.
Kyrgios did not play since the Australian Open, where he lost to Murray in the quarters, but came in healthy and fresh to defeat Kudla in two sets here at the Indian Wells. Nick was very solid on serve, conceding just one break point, hitting 11 aces and winning 86% of first serve points – and that`s always a very good barometer of his game.
Dimitrov was far from his best so far this year, not really able to play his best tennis. Grigor played just one solid match actually, against Murray at the Australian Open, losing in 4 sets – in the other games, including wins, he was error-prone and surprisingly passive. He lost in the second round in his last two tournaments to Muller and Harrison, managing to lose 6-0 in the deciding set to the American three weeks ago, also having some fitness problems. He had a bye in the first round here in Indian Wells, so this will be his opening match.

The Head 2 Head is 0-0, the two players never met before. A matchup analysis will not reveal anything particularly interesting, no player has a particular edge in playing styles.
The odds on Dimitrov are just not OK here, the price is way too low – he`s not playing good tennis and is meeting a player that can hold his own against anybody. The two guys are at a similar level right now and this should be a match played mostly on serve, with very few break point opportunities for either player. Kyrgios should be able to at least secure his serve until tiebreaks, but if Dimitrov continues his shaky game, the Australian could actually get a few opportunities to break.
My tip is Kyrgios +3,5 game handicap and I would not be surprised if he manages not only to cover the spread, but win the whole thing. The line is extremely high considering the brilliant serve of Nick. The danger seems to be a 6-7 3-6, but I really don`t see Dimitrov winning that easily. Prediction: Nick Kyrgios – Grigor Dimitrov 7-6 4-6 6-7.
