Olympiakos – Dinamo

Red hot Olympiakos will take on Dinamo Zagreb in the 4th round of the Champions League Group F, with the match holding massive importance in the fight for both UCL and Europa League qualification. So far in Group F Bayern and Olympiakos have 6 points each, while Arsenal and Dinamo Zagreb have 3 points.

The Greeks have been virtually flawless this season, posting 9 out of 9 wins in the domestic league, to go along with a win in England over Arsenal (3-2) and a 1-0 victory in Croatia two weeks ago. Their only loss was a 0-3 home defeat to Bayern. Olympiakos might have been a bit lucky to get that win in Zagreb, as it was an evenly matched clash and Oly scored late, but they will take it and will count on home court advantage for another three points today.

Dinamo Zagreb opened up the group with a 2-1 win over Arsenal and after two more games in Croatia they reached the unbelievable number of 45 consecutive matches without a loss in all competitions. However, it didn`t last long, as Zagreb traveled to Bayern where they lost 5-0 and that was the end of Zagreb’s run. Dinamo has now lost 3 of the last 4 matches, against Olympiakos, Rijeka and this weekend against NK Split.

Team news & lineups:

Maniatis and Dominguez are out for Olympiakos, while Bouchalakis and Cambiasso are questionable. Cambiasso is expected to be in the starting lineup though. Dinamo Zagreb will not have Soudani, Ivo Pinto and Schildenfeld, while Pavicic and Sigali are doubtful.

Olympiakos: Roberto – Elabdellaoui, Siovas, Botia, Masuaku – Cambiasso, Kasami – Seba, Fortounis, Pardo – Ideye

Dinamo Zagreb: Eduardo – Matel, Sigali, Saravel, Pivaric – Antolic, Ademi, Machado – Hodzic, Pjaca, Fernandes

Olympiakos is a very popular bet today and I must admit that I am fully on the Oly bandwagon. The Greek side is in terrific form and, unlike Zagreb, they proved their worth in Europe as well. We know that both these teams are extremely dangerous at home, so I don`t rate Zagreb’s chances at all in Greece – if they could not hold a draw at home, when they were in better form, it`s doubtful they can do anything in Greece. Dinamo`s fans have not traveled for this match.

Both teams need points, but you have to feel that Oly will be more fired up, as they will have their superb fans behind them and know that a victory will get them very close to playing in the Champions League Round 16. Form, quality and home court advantage should do the job here, it`s as simple as that as far as I`m concerned. The hosts are a reliable team in Greece, Zagreb is also missing some key players, Soudani and two first choice defenders, so that might hurt them. My tip is Olympiakos to win with a -1 asian handicap. Prediction: Olympiakos – Dinamo Zagreb 3-0.
