Lyon – Lille

Lyon Lille betting tips

Olympique Lyon will try to strengthen their Top 3 position in Ligue One when they take on a struggling Lille side at Groupama Stadium.

Lyon is flying high at the moment, winning 9 and drawing one of their last 10 games, also keeping a clean sheet in their last eight! Currently on the second place in the standings, Lyon has also been excellent at home all season, being undefeated at Groupama Stadium in all competition. The hosts are on the back of an emphatic 5-0 road victory in Nice on Sunday.

Lille is second to last in the Ligue 1 table, claiming just 12 points in the 14 rounds elapsed so far. Lille has lost two games in a row against Amiens and Montpellier, both of them on the road, both of them 0-3 – so their current form is not good at all and relegation is looking more and more like a real possibility for them this season.

Team news & lineups:

Traore is out for Lyon, while Morel is doubtful. Lille will miss Kouame and possibly Mendes.

Lyon might rotate the squad a bit given the fact that they played on Sunday, and that this will be their 4th match in 11 games. However, expectations are that changes will be kept to a minimum, maybe 2-3 guys moving to the bench.

Olympique Lyon: Lopes – Rafael, Yanga-Mbiwa, Diakhaby, Mendy – Ferri, Tousart – Cornet, Fekir, Maolida – Mariano

Lille: Maignan – Malcuit, Soumaoro, Ie, Alonso – Bissouma, Amadou, Maia – Ghazi, Pepe, Araujo

Lyon is playing some really good football right now, they are spectacular up front as they usually are, but the defense also stepped up and is looking virtually impenetrable lately. Facing a struggling team like Lille at home should be light work for Lyon.

Nevertheless, Lille has one extra days of rest, which could be important given the fact that Lyon played a lot of matches recently given their participation in Europa League. The light rotation Lyon could make in the lineup will also give Lille hope.

The above are definitely factors worth taking into account, but it`s pretty much the only thing Lille has going for them – and it doesn`t look even close to being enough for an upset. I reckon it could be the difference between a blowout and a closer game, but not more.

Even with a couple of changes, Lyon should do the job professionally, as they always do at home. They can`t afford to have an off game here given how tight the fight for the Champions League places is, so expect the hosts to treat this with full focus despite the busy schedule. Still, I think it`s smart to give ourselves a safety net here, so my tip is Lyon to cover the -1 asian handicap at odds around 1.45 – 1.50. Prediction: Lyon – Lille 2-0.

Pick: Lyon (-1 Asian Handicap)
Odds: 1.49 @ Pinnacle
Stake: 8
Possible profit: 3.92
Event date: 29 November
