Magic – Clippers

The Los Angeles Clippers will be keen to bounce back after a bad loss when they take on the lowly Magic in Orlando.

Orlando was seen as one of the worst teams in the NBA this season but they have surpassed expectations, bossting a 5 win – 7 loss record (2-2 home) and playing particularly well in their last 4 outings. The Magic are on the back of a solid road win against Detroit two days ago and have won 3 of the last 4 – with the only loss being against the very strong Wizards on the road by just 5 points. However, much of the recent good play has come because of excellent 3 point shooting – this won`t last forever and Orlando still has a lot of problems, the lack of quality being their number 1 issue.

Clippers lost big to Chicago two days ago even if the Bulls were without Rose and Gasol. Los Angeles has a 5-4 record so far (1-1 away) and has been a little disappointing considering the fact that they are viewed as title contenders. Personally I don`t think they can go beyond the 2nd round in the Western Conference playoffs, being one big piece away from contention, but they are a solid side, no doubt about that. LA will start a long road trip today so they will look to gain confidence with a win.

Listen, Orlando had very good results recently but I doubt they will keep the 3 point shooting at a high level again, you just can`t do that on a consistent basis. Also one of the reasons for their success was Nikola Vucevic, but he has the habit of getting into foul trouble and surely he will be limited against the magnificent frontcourt duo of Los Angeles (Griffin – Jordan). The Clippers are a much better team and it`s really unlikely they can play two horrible matches in a row. Expect them to bounce back after the Chicago loss and get this road trip started with a win – it is key that they get the W in the first match of this road trip against an accessible team.
