PSG – Chelsea

PSG Chelsea betting previewParis Saint Germain will look to build on their superb form in 2014 but it won`t be an easy task hosting a seasoned, quality team like Chelsea, who is also a hurt animal after losing to Crystal Palace over the weekend.

PSG is riding a 9 match winning streak right now and, despite the last two wins coming after not so impressive performances, it’s obvious that the french side is flying high right now. PSG has been even more impressive at home, where they lost a single match all season, a shock 1-2 defeat to Montpellier in the League Cup in January. The home side is on the back of a 1-0 win at Nice and the last time out in Champions League they dismantled Leverkusen with a spectacular 6-1 aggregate win (4-0 away in the first leg).

Chelsea was in brilliant form to start 2014, but lately the team lost two key matches in the Premier League, getting beat by Aston Villa and Crystal Palace with the same scoreline, 1-0, on the road – and thus losing important ground in the Premier League title race. The Palace defeat a couple of days ago was particularly disappointing and confirmed yet again that Chelsea is having some problems when playing away from home (Chelsea has now won just one of the last 6 road games in all competitions). However, the Blues are expected to bounce back, as no longer than 1 week ago they destroyed Arsenal 6-0, so quality and form are there for Chelsea right now.

Team news & lineups

PSG’s only injury worry is Van Der Wiel, who is questionable. Chelsea will have to do without Van Ginkel, Salah and Matic, while David Luiz and Samuel Eto`o are doubtful and will undergo late fitness tests.

PSG: Sirigu – Jallet, Silva, Alex, Digne – Verratti, Matuidi, Cabaye – Cavani, Ibrahimovic, Lavezzi

Chelsea: Cech – Ivanovic, Terry, Cahill, Azpilicueta – Ramires, Lampard – Willian, Hazard, Schurrle – Torres

This should be an evenly matched encounter, but considering PSG’s fantastic form, they should be favored to edge it – and they are, with odds about evens (which by the way, are dropping fast). Home court advantage should be a massive difference maker, as the french side is brilliant at Parc des Princes, while Chelsea looks totally out of sorts on the road lately (actually they were poor all season away from home). PSG proved this season that they deserve to be considered Champions League contenders and have matured as a top european side. Qualification will surely be decided at Stamford Bridge, but look for PSG to win this one at home. Tip: Paris Saint Germain to win. Prediction: PSG – Chelsea 2-1.
