Petrolul – Flamurtari

Petrolul Ploiesti Flamurtari betting previewPetrolul Ploiesti from Romania hosts Albanese side Flamurtari Vlore. Europa League 2nd qualifying round, first leg.

Petrolul finished 3rd last season in Romania but many people are saying that they might be the No.1 favorite for the title this year … for sure a top 3 finish is expected at least. An analysis of Petrolul will say that the Romanians have a very good squad, lost only 1 important player in the summer (left back Guilherme) and have a good coach for Romanian level, former National Team coach Razvan Lucescu. Petrolul saw some changes in management and squad in the winter last year and needed some time to adapt but they finished the league strong and continued the good run in friendlies. Petrolul key man and ex Fiorentina star Adrian Mutu has looked very sharp in friendlies, scoring 4 goals and it seems he has decided to work for a good end of his career after 2 poor years. Petrolul has no big absentees and can field a very good lineup today.

Petrolul lineup: Pecanha – Alcenat, Alves, Hoban, Fanchone – Marinescu, de Lucas – Teixeira, Mutu (c), Albin – Tamuz

Flamurtari comes from a much weaker league than the Romanian one: the Albanian league. They are not even a top side there and finished 8th last season … but won the Cup and earned a place in Europe. Flamurtari already played a tie in Europa League 2014/2015 and won very hard at away goals vs. mediocre team from Georgia Sioni Bolnisi; actually they qualified with a goal in the 85th minute after being down 0-2 at home in the reverse leg. Odds are they won’t pose any kind of threat to Petrolul in this tie

I like how Petrolul Ploiesti looks this year and they are eager to play in front of a packed stadium the first match of the season. Petrolul has amazing fans and plays good at home, they also returned to Europe last year after a long absence so everybody is waiting this European games with much anticipation. Manager Lucescu and captain Mutu said that the team is focused and not underestimating the opponent so I trust them. Petrolul has hopes of reaching the group stages, they have a very good team and Flamurtari should be no match for them. There is a big gap in class here and Petrolul with their form and home court advantage are clear favorites. Conforming with the analysis my tip will be Petrolul to win with 1,75 asian handicap, for sure they are capable of putting at least 2 goals past their opponents. Odds dropping. Correct score prediction: Petrolul Ploiesti – Flamurtari 3-0.

  1. I like your analysis about Petrolul. They sure are one of the title contenders.
Their main advantage is their coach.
However, I think Mutu is way overrated.
But over the years he has learned what to say in press conferences and after reading those interviews we expect good things for him.
Scoring in friendlies is totally meaningless.
I am sure Petrolul will win but I think that a safer bet is Petrolul to keep a clean sheet.
I expect total domination from Petrolul but I don’t know if they can put more than 2 goals past Flamurtari.
I like your tips Ocean, keep it up!
