Polish champions PGE Turow Zgorzelec take on the might Panathinaikos Athens in this Euroleague group C clash. This group is the strongest in the competition this season and after five rounds Turow is last, while Panathinaikos is second.
Despite being on the 6th place with 1 win and 4 losses, Turow made a real good impression so far and were unlucky to be sent to such a tough group. The hosts defeated Bayern Munich at home and challenged Panathinaikos on the road (77-84), but on the other hand lost the other 3 games pretty clearly. They are known as a solid home team and have excellent offense, especially on transition. Turow can play the frontcourt game as well, with some talented bigs in the roster. They need to win this if they are to stand any chance of qualifying.

Panathinaikos is on the back of a 78-69 loss at Barcelona and actually they did not win a single game on the road in this Euroleague group (3-0 home, 0-2 away). Playing in a packed arena in Poland won`t be easy, but the Greeks do have the experience and the quality to deal with it. I really like this Panathinaikos side this year and I think they could go all the way to the Final 4 without problems – they have such a balanced team all around. Panata is counting on a win today in order to put a foothold in this group but they do not take Turow lightly according to the coach`s and players` statements.
I do respect PGE Turow and they are by no means scrubs, but they still lack the experience and the consistency to play in this competition. Panathinaikos is a much better and seasoned team, they look very focused and have the experience of the tight game with Turow at home. After almost losing to the Polish side in Greece, Panata will come out guns blazing today, looking for their first road win. I do not think Turow has what it takes to challenge a motivated and focused Panathinaikos side. Expect the visitors to kill Turow with the bench, having much more depth and considering that the Zgorzelec side lost all matches in this group by at least 7 points, I reckon Panathinaikos will cover the 6 point handicap.
