Poland – Georgia

Poland Georgia betting previewPoland and Georgia square off in Group D of the Euro 2016 qualifiers.

Poland is sitting on a surprising first place in this group, ahead of Germany, but the competition could hardly be tighter. Germany and Scotland are just one point behind the Poles, with Ireland three points behind on the 4th place. Needless to say that Poland can not afford to drop points here, as they have a great opportunity to strengthen their commanding position in the Group – especially with Ireland playing Scotland this round.

The visitors have no chance for qualification, gaining just three points in the first five matches. Not a big issue for them though, as Georgia decided to go with youth in these qualifiers and build for the future. They are already starting to play decent football and had some good performances, but there`s still a long way to go. Georgia is known to be a dreadful away side and indeed they lost 8 out of their last 10 travels, only beating Saudi Arabia and Gibraltar (which was they only time they did not lose in this group).

Team news: Poland will be happy to have the big stars available and ready to feature in the starting lineup – Lewandowski, Błaszczykowski, Krychowiak, Milik, Fabianski, Piszczek, Glik and so on. Georgia is also relatively healthy and will look to mix up youth with experience again.

Poland should be able to win this, they are a really solid team, Georgia has its limits and at home the Poles will be simply too strong – not that they weren`t too strong in Georgia as well, where they won 4-0. However, I`m not to keen on handicaps here, as the odds are not that great for -1 or -1,25 and Georgia is a rugged, determined side who will not give up. Instead, the proper bet to take might be Poland to win to nil.

Poland has the best defense in this group, allowing just 3 goals so far. On the other hand Georgia scored just 1 goal aside from the game against Gibraltar and they struggle big time to create chances on the road – Georgia failed to score in all of their last 4 losses away from home (and 6 of the last 8). Look for Poland to stay sharp and focus, bang in one goal and than look to stay safe at the back, while at the same time going for more if chances present themselves. I really can`t see this offensively – challenged Georgia team scoring in Warsaw, so my tip is Poland to win to nil. Prediction: Poland – Georgia 2-0.
