Paris SG will return to their stadium to celebrate winning the Ligue 1 title. It is their 4th consecutive title … they claimed it after a 9-0 win vs Troyes last week. But visitors AS Monaco will of course try to ruin the celebration of PSG.
Interesting to note that Paris SG is not a traditional powerhouse of French football, always a surprise to many football fans. They have won just 2 titles before the Arab owners came and now they have already won 4 consecutive titles. They have a stranglehold on French football, monopolizing media attention and also the refs. This year PSG benefited from just 5 penalties, second most after Lorient (with 6), but last year PSG received 13 penalties, just imagine that! And Marseille, who was their biggest rival, just 2 penalties last season … so from this point of view, it’s pretty clear what will happen today.

I see PSG rolling over Monaco. Monaco started strongly a few years back, with big money moves, but slowly declined. The explanation is that their owner, a rich Russian billionaire, divorced, so he lost half his fortune. And of course priorities in his life changed. Yet still Monaco continue to be the 2nd best team in France, and rightly so … the team is still good.
PSG will miss Veratti and Pastore and also excluded Aurier, while Monaco has much bigger problems. They will miss Dirar, Moutinho, Silva, Traore A, Pasalic and Coentrao, some of their best players. It will be difficult for them to cope with these absences against a team like PSG>
PSG -1.5 goal handicap is the bet for me. They are pumped up to celebrate the title and Monaco is weakened. There are also two weeks until the next game for PSG so they will go full steam for sure. Good odds and a classics 8 unit stake from me.
