QPR – Tottenham

QPR Tottenham betting previewQueens Park Rangers and Tottenham will square off at Loftus Road in the only Premier League match to take place in an otherwise FA Cup weekend.

I watched QPR against Arsenal and nothing changed compared to the previous run of horrible form. The 1-2 home defeat to the Gunners was the 7th loss in the last 8 games for QPR and the result was never in real doubt. Arsenal was frustrated for 60 minutes, missing some chances, but once they got the opening goal they could have went up 3-0 or even 4-0 and that is without playing too good themselves. It was a real testament to how low QPR’s morale is right now, as the hosts totally crumbled once they got behind on the scoreboard.

Tottenham is looking like a legit Top 4 contender for the first time in many years, but they are 6 points behind Manchester United in the standings. They do have one less game played, so this will be it – a win is absolutely mandatory is the Spurs want to have any chance of playing Champions League football next year. Tottenham went on a 5 match winless streak (all competitions) before beating Swansea 3-2 midweek, but it has to be said that they had real tough opponents – Liverpool, Fiorentina (twice) and Chelsea, so that can be an excuse.

Team news & lineups:

QPR continues to miss key players like Fer, Dunne, Taarabt, Faurlin and Barton, with Onuoha likely unavailable as well. Meanwhile, Tottenham has no injuries or suspensions and Mauricio Pochettino can field his best lineup today.

QPR: Green – Yun, Caulker, Hill, Furlong – Isla, Henry, Kranjcar, Phillips – Zamora, Austin

Tottenham: Lloris – Walker, Dier, Vertonghen, Rose – Mason, Paulinho – Lamela, Dembele, Townsend – Kane

When you look at how QPR are playing and how easily they can be put down, you just can`t see them challenging any side from the top half of the Premier League table. They used to be solid at least at home, but those times are long gone – 4 consecutive losses at Loftus Road. Tottenham aren`t always the most reliable side but they clearly improved in the second part of this season, are on the back of a morale boosting win, have a full lineup available and need 3 points really bad (not that QPR doesn`t need them at least as badly). They demolished QPR in the start of the season 4-0, a totally one sided match and Spurs were playing worse back than – but of course it was a home game.

The odds for a Tottenham win are much better than what Arsenal had a few days ago here but I expect more or less the same result, as the Spurs are pretty much similar to Arsenal in terms of both quality and style of play. If Tottenham scores early that would suck the life out of QPR completely, otherwise it will be a battle in the second half but Spurs will likely still come out on top. My tip is Tottenham to win. Prediction: Queens Park Rangers – Tottenham 1-2.
