Almeria is coming after a key win vs. fellow relegation candidates Granada in Sergi’s second game in charge as manager … and a convincing one as well, 3-0. It was the first victory for Almeria after 8 matches without a win and after 3 consecutive losses, a win that came at the right time as Almeria now tied Deportivo in points and can get out of the relegation zone today (Depor played yesterday and lost). But they need to improve their performances on the road … which have been horrible this year. Soriano, Verza, Velez and Macedo are out for Almeria

Rayo’s form at home is nothing short of excellent: 4 consecutive wins followed by a loss to Real in which Rayo deserved to get something. In contrast, Almeria’s away form is horrible with 7 losses in the last 8 matches (and 4 out of the last 4) … their stats could hardly be worse. I expect Rayo Vallecano to come out strong right from the start and play a convincing match of offensive football in front of their own fans … continuing their excellent form at home and piling up on Almeria’s misery.
