Maybe Real Sociedad are not as strong as last season when they finished on 4th place and qualified for Champions League, but they are still a very solid team and can dream of repeating the performance. Sociedad is on 6th place and a win today would see them just 6 points behind Bilbao for the 4th position. Sociedad played some great football lately winning a lot of games but suffered a small dip in form in the last to La Liga matches (1-5 at Villareal, 2-2 vs Getafe). Sociedad is on the back of a 3-1 win against Santander in the Spanish Cup, after knocking out Villareal 10 days ago (revenging that 5-1 defeat). League and Cup combined, Sociedad is in good form, but they need to get back to winning ways in La Liga. Team news: Ifran, Elustondo, De la Bella and Granero can’t play. Estrada is questionable.

Elche is on 17th place in the standings and just won a huge game vs. Vallecano last round (2-0) after gaining just 1 point in the previous 5 matches. The visitors are 2 points clear of relegation and with a game in hand. Elche does not really have La Liga quality but with a couple of other poor teams this season, they might just earn themselves a second year in the top flight after promoting this season. Elche lost the last two away games in Primera and last time won on the road in October. Team news: Alvaro is the only certain absentee for Elche, but Sapunaru, Suarez and Ianson are all major doubts.

My bet is Real Sociedad to win with -1 asian handicap. Sociedad is the better team and they are playing good football lately. Elche is struggling on the road and that 2-0 win they got against Vallecano will take away some of their motivation for this game. Sociedad must win this if they want to remain favorites for an european spot, and I reckon they will be able to do it rather comfortably on their own turf. The hosts have been very good at home with a 6-2-1 statline and 23-7 goal difference and a visit from lowly Elche should help them improve on those statistics. I don`t see any reasons for a potential upset, so pick Sociedad to get a solid home win with a 1 goal asian handicap. Prediction: Real Sociedad – Elche 2-0.
