Salzburg and Nice will square off in a match that represents the last chance for both teams to hope for qualification. Salzburg and Nice each have zero points after the first two rounds in the Europa League group I.

Salzburg is having a season to forget so far. Not only did they lose both matches in Group I with a 1-4 goal difference, but they are struggling in the Austrian Bundesliga as well. Salzburg is 3rd in the table, no less than 9 points behind leaders Sturm Graz and the title seems to be in real danger of slipping away. Salzburg’s form is also poor, as they failed to win any of the last 4 games in all competitions. Nice’s situation in this group is pretty peculiar. The hosts are having a tremendous season, leading the French league by 4 points, but they have been dreadful in the Europa League. They took the competition seriously and fielded their best lineup, but lost 0-1 with Schalke and 2-5 with Krasnodar. Nice is on the back of a huge 2-0 win against Lyon and will hope to finally translate the domestic form into Europe, as this is their last chance in the Europa League.

Team news: Salzburg will miss Schwegler and Wanders, while Prevljak is a doubt. Nice will miss Le Marchand and possibly Le Bichal. It`s unclear if Nice will give it one last try in Europa League with full focus or rest a few players for the match against Metz, but the first option seems much more likely, as they played their best lineup so far in the competition.

Salzburg is a well known all out attacking team and Nice has been pretty goal friendly this season as well, averaging almost 2 goals per game in Ligue 1. Both teams recorded high scoring matches so far in the Europa League.

This is clearly the last chance for each side to fight for qualification and only a win will do.
