Romania has been dirt poor since Cristoph Daum took over as manager last year, winning just one of their last 7 games, and going scoreless in 4 of their last 5. The bad results are not really a surprise though, given the fact that Romania has no talent in the squad, with this arguably being the worst generation of players in their history. Team news: Both teams should be pretty much at full strength here, even though a few tweaks in the lineups are very possible.

Romania scored a grand total of 1 goal in their last 5 matches, and that was through a deflected shot from 20 meters out in their last game against Poland – when they were already down 0-3. This is a defensive oriented team with a decent back line, but next to no qualities from the midfield up. Coach Daum stated at the press conference that “I`m not promising we will play attacking football in this match”, so you can imagine what that means.

Chile is obviously a team with a lot of attacking talent, but it`s questionable if they will show that in Cluj. Playing a friendly match in Eastern Europe is not too high on Chile’s players list of priorities, so they will probably look to play a decent game, try not to lose (shouldn`t be too difficult) and be done with it. Not to mention Chile is also a very good defensive team, besides their qualities up front. After all, 5 of their last 8 matches ended with under 2,5 goals.

This has the makings of a low scoring game. I expect Chile to play a decent game, but not trouble themselves too much, while Romania can barely find a shot on target these days – so it`s hard to see them doing much against a superior team. It should be a boring midfield battle, with the hosts willing but not able, and the visitors able but not willing.
