SAC Kings – MIL Bucks

Demarcus Cousins Kings injury

The bookmakers opened the market with Sacramento as a 4,5 point spread favorites against the Bucks, but that line might well change as best player DeMarcus Cousins is highly questionable for the Sacramento Kings.

Sacramento (20-27, 12-12 home) lost DeMarcus Cousins in the last match against Memphis, their 4th consecutive loss. Cousins suffered an ankle injury and even if X-rays did not show any ligament damage, he is not likely to be risked today. Even if their superstar available, Sacramaneto have lost the last 4 games and a playoff appearance is starting to look more and more unlikely.

Milwaukee (20-29, 7-21 away) is in a similar situation to Sacramento, losing 4 of the last 5 games and sitting below the playoff positions in the Eastern Conference. Milwaukee is paying tribute to a slow start which was caused by an injury plague. The young Bucks are healthy now and really need to pick themselves up as soon as possible if they are to mount a realistic playoff challenge. They weren’t that bad in those last 5 games, but met strong opposition.

Sacramento without Cousins is a totally different team. He is their first and second option offensively, by far their best player and his absence transforms the Kings in one of the worst teams in the league. He’s highly doubtful and I would be surprised if he plays, it would be stupid to risk him 2 days after he sprained his ankle – but even if he does, he will be limited in minutes and in performance.

Despite their poor road record and their shaky form, the Bucks are finally healthy and stand a great chance for a win considering the ankle injury of Cousins. Milwaukee is definitely a better team than its record shows and has played really well before losing 4 of those last 5 games.

Unless Cousins is miraculously declared fit, I expect the odds to drop on Milwaukee and there is definitely value to be taken here. My tip is the Bucks to cover the 3,5 point spread. They would have a fighting chance even a full strength Kings size, but with Cousins unlikely to play, the Bucks might even be favorites.

Interestingly, Kings are 3-8 ATS (against the spread) in their last 11 home games meeting a team with a losing road record. Prediction: Sacramento Kings – Milwaukee Bucks 105-108.

  1. Cousins officially ruled out 1 hour ago. Sacramento now at 1.85 to win (up from 1.55), I reckon Bucks will be favorites until game time. This was a dream scenario for trading.

  2. What a gardbage match this was…damn it
