Kings – Wizards

The Washington Wizards will finish a 4 game road trip in the Western Conference with a visit to Sacramento. The Wizards will attempt to claim their second in in the four game road trip, but might have to do it without their second best player, Bradley Beal. However, Sacramento will be shorthanded as well.

Sacramento (1-4, 0-2 home) is in full rebuilding mode and will definitely battle it out with the Lakers and the Suns for the last place in the Western Conference. The Kings were useless so far this season, even managing to lose at home to the lowly Suns, and their only win came in their second match against a shorthanded Mavs team.

The Wizards (3-2, 1-2 away) started the season very well with three consecutive wins, but lost the next two. The first defeat came against the Lakers, so that was definitely a bad result, while the second came two nights ago in Golden State. Washington played very well in that game and led by as many as 18 points in the third quarter, but they couldn`t stop a classic late Warriors rally and ended up losing by 3 points. Washington had to play the second half without Bradley Beal, as he was ejected in the 2nd quarter. A decision hasn`t yet been made for his availability tonight, but chances are he will be suspended.

Team news: The Kings will miss two of their best players, Randolph and Hill, who will both be rested in this game. Washington will continue to miss starting PF Morris who is yet to play this season, and it`s fair to presume Beal will be out too.

Bradley Beal`s absence will definitely hurt Washington, but you have to feel that Sacramento will have even more problems by missing Randolph and Hill, two guys who add another dimension to their game.

Having lost two straight, Washington really needs a result here and they should be able to get it. While the Wizards are not a very good road team and they are on the back end of a 4 game road trip out West, also missing Bradley Beal, it`s still highly unlikely for a team of their caliber (projected 2nd seed in the East) to lose three times in a row – and two times in a row against very poor opposition (Lakers, Kings).

The Wizards had one bad game all season four nights ago in LA and despite their two successive losses, they are not playing bad at all. They were unlucky to lose those last two games by a combined total of 6 points. Being on the back end of a 4 game road trip is not the best position to be in, but the effect of it will be diluted by the fact that Washington hasn`t had any back to backs – so they should be fine.

Also look for John Wall to have a great game here, the Wizards star has shot the ball poorly lately and he`s due for a big night. With George Hill out for the Kings, John Wall will face off against the rookie DeAron Fox, who definitely can`t guard him. As such, I expect an improved performance from Wall, and that should be more than enough for a Wizards win here.

My tip is Washington to cover the 5 point (asian) handicap. Odds will surely drop in the unlikely case in which Beal avoids suspension. If he`s suspended, as expected, the price on this 5 point spread will probably go up. Prediction: Sacramento Kings – Washington Wizards 98 – 110.
